Ever since I can remember, I have always been obsessed with something, as in a movie or a book, and the list goes on. I am getting really fed up, and when I tried to explain how it feels to never know why you're so obsessed with something to friends when I was at the mall, I ended up clawing at my face and didn't even notice until the said I had marks on my face. (Time to cut my nails....) I've lost friends over this, and some are just really confused, and so am I. I just want to be able to JUST like things, not be able to recite the whole The Phantom of the Opera script, just to go see a movie, then get obsessed with a certain character. I do have OCD, and I am not on and medical drugs or drinking, since I am underage.

  1. if you have ocd maybe their is a certain type of medicine that you can take for it? or you could seek a therapist to help with how you handle things? but if you have ocd then obsessing over things just comes with it and theres not much you can do about it (i have schizophrenia)

  2. Phantom of the Opera has been my obsession for over 10 years, and I can recite the songs in spanish, french, english and of course the entire movie, AND then entire broadway show...seriously. That is because I continue to feed my love for it day after day. I could stop liking it, but I don't want to.

There's a difference between REALLy, REALLY liking things, and obsessing over them. I'm not sure what the "clawing" thing has to do with obsessing, but...

I think you allow yourself to get obsessed with things. If you seriously think about it and say "WHY am I obsessing over this? It's not real...this is kind of silly." and if you simply can't, then you need to get help. I don't think OCD has ANYTHING to do with your liking of things. OCD is like you can't stand to have things in disorder, you have to have things set up or organized a certain way. it's over little things that most people would think silly or not even think about. Like putting the same colored markers together or something like that. Not being obsessed with fictional characters.

So if you think it's a really serious problem, and you are losing friends over it, you need to talk to someone about it. A school counselor or psychologist...or tell you parents/guardians/family that you want help.

  3. It definitely sounds like OCD. I too have it and I obsess over things to the point it seems pathetic, but it's does get absolutely annoying.

  4. i have ocd also, but im not obsessive..you probably just like some things a little too much..we all have faves and hobbies. dont worry about it.

  5.   OCD can drive you crazy and drive people away from you. It is very

difficult to get off of someting and on to something else. If your parents

can be involved with your problem they can take you to get help. If

they do not wish you to be on medications. ask them to take you

for testing and talk to a professional about your options so you can

get on with your life. If your parents can't help talk to your school

counselor. Lots and lots of kids have this disorder but it can be treated

and managed if not cured entirely.

  6. Talk to your doctor - even if you're underage I'm sure there is some type of medication that can help you.

  7. Obessive Compalsive Disorder. Makes you obsess over things like that. Just my guess.

  8. Lots of Autistic people do this.

Go to your doc and see what he says.

It could be your OCD though, OCD sufferers often change what the are obsessed with

    Good luck
