Why do I often get a headache after swimming?

I love to swim, but notice that I often get a headache after swiiming. If I swim for 10 some odd minutes, I am ok, but after 10 min, my head really hurts?

  1. I have the same problem. I'm hyper sensitive to chlorine.


  2. What happens is if you are lacking air, that can be a severe cause of headaches. Sometimes people just get headaches from swimming for too long, which is not too common, but not rare.

  3. try coming up for more breathes headaches often occur as the person under me mentioned when your brain doesnt get enough oxygen so be sure to be consitently coming up for breaths.

  4. It could be your sinuses. Water or chlorine could be inflaming your sinuses. It could also be because of the intensified breathing that your sinuses get aggravated. Try taking a Sudafed or a mild decongestant. It works for me.
