Why do I smell gasoline on the inside and outside of my car?

Had fuel pump and filter replaced took it back to dealer and they put on a new fuel cap but that didnt help any suggestions.

  1. if it didnt do it before, the o ring around the pump is leaking. take it back as it will be under warranty


  2. It's possible the New Fuel Pump is Bad "It Happens" and leaking. If it's back by the Fuel Tank (Fuel Filter is just forward of the Tank) the lines and/or fitting at the Filter are Leaking. If they say there is "No Problem" get it to a Different Shop and have the Complete Fuel System Checked.

  4. You probably have a leak in your fuel tank filler tube.  It could be a gasket, or there may be a rubber hose section in the filler tube, which could be damaged.  In some cars, the filler tube passes through the trunk, which would account for the gasoline smell inside the car.
