Question:

Why do I smell smoke?

Almost every evening, I start to smell cigarette smoke, but nobody is smoking anywhere near me.

My head can sometimes even start to hurt a little bit, as if someone is actually smoking near me.

I don't smoke, I've never smoked, and I do not want to smoke.

What does this mean?

  1. maybe your having a seizure

  2. Is something burning, or someting might be broken like a pipe or smething and smells a bit like smoke?

  3. I know where you're coming from. I smell toast, natural gas, and lettuce a lot. I think it's purely psychosomatic... that it's all in our heads, giving us a 'nasal hallucination' or something.

  4. That your brain is over working?

  5. Does the smell typically precede the headache? Are there any other odd sensations with it, like odd tastes, flashes of light or dizziness? If so, it may be a migraine aura. Any of these could also be caused by a seizure. If you're sure there's no smoke around and it's bothering you, see a doctor.
