Why do I sneeze when I look at the sun?

I know this is a bit of an odd question, but if I look at the sun, or even if it is just very bright outside, I'll have a sneezing fit or two when I first walk out there and I was wondering what was causing this. It is not an outside irritant, it is most definitely the brightness of the outdoors for some reason.

  1. My friend does this.  She had surgery on her eyes at one point.  It has something to do with light perception and the nerves in the eyes.  I don't really know why, but it is not unheard of.  Google around, I'm sure you'll find a technical explanation.

  2. our tear ducts and noses are connected. when your eyes water it tends to irritate your nose just right so that you sneeze. people who have allergies are more prone to be a sun sneezer. it's also called photic sneeze reflex.
