At times, the inside of my mouth and nose become incredibly itchy. I end up chewing the inside of my mouth until it bleeds, and similarly I scratch my nose to the point where it becomes very painful. The itching is not constant, it comes and goes, usually lasting a few days. Sometimes I get it once or twice a week, other times it's months in between occurences. What is this, should I be worried? How can I prevent it?

  1. Try to keep a journal of every time this happens.  Make note of the foods you ate, and the medicines you took beforehand.  This could be an allergic reaction to something.. In the meantime I would make an appt with your doctor to discuss this with them.

This is similar to something I was going through once.  I would get itchy swollen cheeks, my tattoos would raise up and feel bumpy, and my wrists and behinds my knees would burn and itch.... I kept a journal of the food I was eating and couldn't find any matches in the occurrences.  When my doctor was looking over my journal entries, she pointed out that a few of the things contained red dye #40.  Since then I avoid anything containing that and I haven't had any problems.

    Good luck.

  2. Maybe you have a elergic to something.
