Question:

Why do I suddenly have irritated genitals?

I've been experiencing a sort of irritation in my v****a for the last day or so. It's not anywhere inside the body - it's more external (inner lips, vaginal opening, etc.) It's a bit inflamed and there's a stinging sensation - it also sort of burns a bit when urinating.

I know that I'm unlikely to get a full doctor's response on yahoo :P but until I can get to one, is there anyone with similar experiences? What was it? And is there any simple way to immediately soothe it?

  1. It sounds like you may have the start of a yeast infection.  DO see your doctor if you've never had one before and/or don't know what this is.

In the mean time, wear cotton underwear, wash the external area several times per day with mild soap and warm water, keep the area as dry as possible, don't wear panty liners, and buy a product called Vagisil; it might help with the irritation until you can get in to see the doc.

  2. STD-Chlamydia, Crabs (pubic lice scabies), Gonorrhea, Hepatitis (viral), Herpes, HPV, Molluscum Contagiosum, PID, Rectal Infections, Syphilis, Trichomonas, Warts, Yeast Infection.

    Sy for being so negative

  3. consult your OB

  4. Sounds like a urinary tract infection.  If you catch it early, you can get some over the counter "flush" that will make your pee reddish for awhile.  If it hurts bad, see a doctor as soon as possible.

  5. Well you def should go see ur gyno!! It could actually be a lot of things, to me, it sounds like a yeast infection, but it could also be the soap u use which can cause irritation, the fabric of certain underwear because it could cause rubbing or maybe a bacterial infection. Until u can get to ur doctor I would suggest u drink a lot of water and/or cranberry juice concentrate not cocktail so no Oceanspray!!! Wear cotton panties during the day and if ur comfortable go commando when u go to bed. Try not to wear extremely tight clothing. But def make that Dr's appt as soon as u can!! Hope I helped u out some.

  6. You definately need to get this checked out by a doctor. But, in the mean time, there is a test you can take that you can purchase at any local drug store or a cosco or wal mart. They are located in the section with the pregnancy tests. its a little test that resembles that of a pregnancy test and you urinate on it and wait. it will turn different colors for any disorders you may have. They vary from yeast infections to UTIs(urinary tract infections) It sounds like to me that you may have a yest infection. if this is so, you can treat it yourself with the monastat cream or capsules. This will almost immidiatly sooth your discomfort. Hope this helps!
