Why do I want him to like me?

We are both in committed relationship and I have no intentions of starting a relationship with him, so why do I want him to be attracted to me?

Yes, I think I agree mostly with the above statement. It is probably more subconscious than you realize. Yes you want the attention and approval, but this guy probably reminds you of your dad, past boyfriends, brother... Some male figure who meant a lot to you and you are trying to recreate this past relationship with this guy to get attention you are missing or desiring. Also, maybe the guy you are with has stopped giving you this special attention.
