  1. It's the culture (and that's litterally for the cheese; they use cultures; we put preservatives into our cheeses. Food means something more to them; the years of experience, the patience to take the time to make something in 8 hours that your guests will eat in 10 minutes, cooking for them is family; it's emotional; cooking is a love that comes from the heart; American cooking could never accomplish this the way we think and dart around.

  2. They make dining an experience. The chef's are better trained, the people take more pride in their product, and diners are willing to pay more for that experience.

  3. I agree with you. I have spent some time in different countries in Europe and I noticed that. I ate deliciously in several cities in Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland. England? Sorry, the fish and chips, I pass...

I love the way the French cook cook...butter!!

and the way the Italian cook cook...olive oil!! um!! delicious!

    Perfect!

  4. When they eat its an experience not to be rushed.  We americans are in such a hurry we want it now and inhale it so fast we don't enjoy all the flavors of the food we eat.  They also do not bring you the bill until you ask for it.  We want the table turn over to make a bigger profit.

  5. I think you can find every food imaginable in America, because you can find EVERY nationality imaginable living in the USA and many have brought their national food traditions with them. So it is not so bad, you just need to know the right places..

  6. in the u.s.a. we have the same products, but we prepare them differently. if you have culinary skills there are recipe books from every country. or try taking a course at a culinary arts school.

in America, we have everything you need....except time.

we also have some great restaurants, but your going to pay plenty.

we also have many specialty stores catering to av ant guard individuals. you can find most anything.

with alittle patience you can eat good and satisfy your palet.

    bon appetite

  7. I don't think that other countries have way better food than what we can get in the United States. Sure, some restaurants and meals will be better than others but that's true with everything.

Certainly if you're traveling and not on a tight schedule or budget, you're more likely to experiment with ordering and spending more time and money on a meal than if you're here at home. A steak at Morton's or Ruth's Chris will almost always taste better than a steak from Denny's or the Sizzler.

In many countries, mealtimes are when friends and/or family get together to talk and share a meal. In this country, it's more about gobbling down food in a hurry so we can get on with our busy lives. Not to mention that we want as much as possible as cheap as possible. And how will you get quality like that?

If we, as consumers, are more disconcerning and vocal about what we want, restaurants who want our business will adapt. Those who don't are doomed to fail.

  8. They use fresh meat (not previously frozen)....

Olive oil and butter instead of shortening and margarine...

They use a lot of garlic and herbs in their dishes...
