  6. This question was funny the first 4,738 times.  It's getting a little old, now.

    The pilots of the Empire of Japan did not wear helmets.  They wore a tight fitting fur-lined leather cap with a lower band that covered their necks and ears.  The purpose was to keep warm.

    All the pilots in the service of Japan wore the same leather cap, and the same caps were issued to the Kamikaze pilots.  They had nothing do do with radio headsets, as only squadron leaders had radio.

  7. Because if they bump their head on the way and fail their mission then it would be conideed a great dishonor to their country and family.  Failure was not an option for them.
