Why do Laker fans think they can keep Kobe, Gasol, Bynum, and Odom for 3-4 years?

You can't give the maximum to 4 players on one team!

If they erase the maximum for star players and Kobe gets 25-30 million a year then Bynum will probably play somewhere else!

  1. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

  2. Don't worry your lil head about it!!But tanx for looking out!!

  3. Wow you must really like bynum so say something like that, No he's not going to play somewhere else. See for all your knowledge about NBA salaries, there is one thing you have no clue about. The Lakers they've clearly said that kobe is their present and bynum is their future neither of those players are going anywhere, and unless the Lakers produce then and only then will they rethink pau's contract but pau is going to be the Lakers third priority. As for Odom =)))) DON'T MAKE ME LAUGH.. like i said you know nothing, several times the Lakers have stated that odom is expandable and could be gone if the kobe, pau, bynum, and odom experiment doesn't work out. Mitch kupchak said that odom could be gone as soon as mid season. So if you think odom is going to get a max contract that will make is difficult to sign bynum keep dreaming. Not to mention with each passing year the lakers are going to have expiring contracts i wouldn't be surprised if they got rid of some of the scrubs like walton, rad, mimh to make some more breathing room. So to answer your question YES! it is possible you are simply a hater who wants the lakers to fall apart again. It aint gonna happen GOT THAT!, lakers fans have suffered in the pit of losers long enough. They finally have the opportunity to win big again and there is no way the Lakers org is going to give that up.

Oh and lest i forget bynum, odom and pau, are not worthless if it looks like the lakers can't keep them and they want out because they're not getting max contracts the lakers will react quick and make a trade for equal or better players.

  4. Who says Laker fans are saying this? I've been advocating Lakers begin turning the page. They can start by letting Lamar walk after this season, as well as Trevor Ariza and Chris Mihm. The team should also wait to resign Jordan Farmar. No doubt Kobe will opt out. Whether he leaves for another NBA team or Europe remains to be seen. Regardless, Lakers should have a contingency plan that targets other free agents with the salary cap space creating by the departures. I get beat up by fans who consider this position to be blasphemy, but for me, I'm about turing the page.

When my fellow Laker fans argue that we need to get something in exchange for Kobe and Lamar, I counter that we are. In letting Odom as well as Mihm and Ariza leave, we drop approximately $22M in excess salary, bringing the team right to the anticipated salary cap for 2009-2010. If Kobe walks, shed no tears Laker fans, we got his best 13 years, 3 NBA titles, 2 scoring championships, 10 all star appearances, an MVP season, and arguably the greatest single offensive performance in league history (81 pts.). It's already been shown last year that you will never get equal value for Kobe via trade, so LA would be better off using Kobe's $22M to sign a top tier FA and another complimentary player, retooling with Gasol, Bryum and the new additions.

Don't get me wrong, as a lifetime Laker fan, I've felt privileged to watch Kobe night in and night out, but the franchise was successful before he got there, and will be successful after he's gone.If faced with the prospect of riding the Kobe rollercoaster or moving on, I say move on.

  5. Bynum, Odom, and Gasol shouldn't get the max. Gasol didn't do much in the championship. Bynum only proved himself for half the year. Still gotta see what he does in the playoffs. And Odom should be traded. (along with walton)
