  1. Well, you assume quite a bit.

Fighting fires can indeed be dangerous, but most of a firefighter's career is spent waiting. An actual fire is comparatively rare.  Also, firefighters do NOT go running headlong into infernos like they do in movies, lifting burning walls off of unconscious people and carrying them to safety in superhuman feats of strength. Firefighting is a carefully planned and executed activity.  When things get too out of hand, firefighters retreat.

Cops, depending on their specific assignment, deal with the threat of death every single time they interact with a lawbreaker. Even routine traffic stops end up with dead cops because the morons out there today might well shoot a cop to avoid a freakin ticket. It happens, a lot more than you'd think. As far as physical strength is concerned, try wrestling with a street thug who's trying to get your weapon so he can kill you with it.

Lastly, pay varies GREATLY. Some cops make more than firefighters, some don't. If you want injustice, look at what Correctional Officers get paid. They start at around $10 an hour in some states, and they aren't fooling with people who MIGHT be criminals, they deal with CONVICTED criminals.

How much money would it take for YOU to get a job inside of a prison?  Cops AND firefighters make more than Correctional Officers, and most of the cops I know say things like, "man you're CRAZY for working in that prison- I wouldn't do it."

  2. Idk, but they should both get paid the same.

  3. Whats your obsession with firefighters?

  4. The fire fighter can chose to leave the fire if it becomes to dangerous. The officer must stay and face the bullet because he/she is sworn to protect.

  5. Pay differences between the two professions depend on what city and state you live in.  I don't really think it's fair to say that being a fire fighter is "more dangerous" than being a police officer.  Fire fighters must contend with fires, but police officers get hit, shot at, are involved in foot/vehicle pursuits, etc.  If you don't work in the professions, perhaps you shouldn't make such bold statements.  Both professions are dangerous and demanding in their own respects.

  6. from my biased opinion, it is because police officers are constantly at work and deal with the ills of society. being a police officer is 99% of the time a thankless job. working a 11-12 hour shift (not including extra hours writing reports and going to court) can be physically and mentally draining, and so police officers deserve every cent. running towards the sound of a gun shot and dealing with unpredictable people could arguably be more life-threatening than going into a fire that can be controlled. im not saying that  a police officers job is any more important or more dangerous than a firefighters but that my perspective.

  7. Every one hates police and loves fire fighters. They need to pay Police officers more to keep them from deciding to take the job and shove it from all the ingratitude of the people in this country.

If you doubt me read what Jay Kay said.

  8. I do agree that Fire Fighting is way more dangerous than law enforcement but law enforcement does have a lot more work to do than a fire fighter, cops are usually always busy, the good ones at least.

  9. yeah i think that is stupid that law enforcements earn more money then firefighters. I think that cops are becoming lazy peices of $ hi t anymore anyways. They are always on a big power trip and i bet most civilians would beat their azz if they didint have the badge on!

  10. Here their pay is about the same but I'll go with the argument that fire fighters do have a lot of down time.  With law enforcement you stay very busy and danger is always there...
