Why do MUNG BEANS sprout only when soaked overnight ?

I also wanna know that WHY WOULD THE BEANS NOT SPROUT IF IT'S FULLY COVERED IN WATER EVEN FOR 2 DAYS ?

The mung beans also sprout when not soaked, but they need  much more time. Soaking softens the beans and their skin so they sprout more quickly.

As long as they are covered with water they can`t sprout, because they need air to germinate.
