How does this help them and do they have to go in the cold tub right after practice in order for it to help them? Or can it be done at any time during the day after a practice?

  8. Its to reduce swelling. Just like and ice pack on a black eye.  Except there whole body hurts from being hit all over, so a cold tub is the best way to help reduce swelling.  Usually they will follow that with heat, to loosen up there muscles.
