  1. we don't hate each other. the southerners just live different lifestyles. the north is more developed than the south, but the south is not like the mexicans coming to the US. they are nowhere near that poor. the north just has most of the major tourist destinations and larger cities.

  2. We don't really "hate" each other, we are just... too different to be friendly each other.

Passer@ Scopaiol@ answered really good, but I still think it's not really "hate". PS I'm from the North (Milan), pure northern since 3 generation (from mum) and since ever (from dad) but I still hate working ;-P

  3. No, only the northern italians hate the southern...not the opposite

  4. i'm from south italy.

northern hate us because we don't like to work, we always search a way to obtain max score, doing less. we don't respect rules, istitutions, rules of a civil way to live, and we always talk about unemployed rate, things that don't go as they should be, we are the reason of the bad reputation of italy.

southerns hate northens because they hate us, are a little bit racists agains us for the reasons i said, and we think that they think too much to work, aren't able to have fun, are too much serious.

  5. There is NO hatred. Southerners are just hotter and are FULL of life. There are more tourists in the North and more money.

Much like in America....northerners think that the southerners are dumb. I have travelled and lived there in the pit hole...Naples......and with all of it's filth, crime, etc, I prefer that over Milano or Venice. It is just their way of life that makes me appreciate life and everything that those people offer. I lived there from 1979 to 1985 and there was alot of poverty. Of course, many people try to steal from you.....but, they are poor. In general, these are the kindest most loving people that I have ever known. They will invite total strangers into their homes and feed them. Just good people......and a great

place with a whole lot of history. Bella Italia.............I will never forget YOU!!

  6. I don't think they hate each other. They just live differently. Yes, I know that many Northerners do not like the fact that Southerners travel so far north for hospitals, etc.

Northern Italy is very industrial and fairly wealthy. Southern Italy remains poor and undeveloped.   A lot of the tax dollars go to the South and the Northerners feel that those in the South need to organize things better  and increasing their economic base.  Many Southerners  are like those in Mexico coming to the USA. They want to find better employment to raise their families.

Italy was unified in 1948, but many Italian still see it as it was...Sicilians, Florentines, Venitians, etc.

Ciao bella... I was not referring to the Mexican coming over to America because of being poor. I was referring to the fact that they want a better job to support their families...   Yes, they are poor, but i was referring to the job market..Economics are bad in Mexico too.

  7. Each region has heir own belief that they are the best. It is not hatred, just a belief that their ways are better.

  8. They don't hate each other... and instead of calling it hate I'd call it ignorance on the past of many of the Northerners.

The Italian Northerners feel outclassed by the better educated and well mannered Southerners. This is where the "heat" of the matter is. Furthermore.... few jobs in the North and many times a Southerner will fill the position because s/he will accept less and in some occasions in any case is better qualified.

It's not hate. It is ignorance that permeates.
