Question:

Why do Olympic divers rinse themselves off after diving?

I'm just curious.. each time one of the divers dives, they rinse themselves in those showers.. I always wanted to know, why?

  1. To keep their muscles loose. The air is much cooler than the pool water, so the sudden change in temperature can cause muscles to tense up or cramp. Showering (or sitting in the small pool on the side) keeps this from happening between dives.
