Why do Religious people say that they the rest of us should leave them be?

When they constantly try to force their beliefs and views on us? If they kept to themselves fine, but they don't. They try to put their biblical laws in everything, force their way of life on all of us, and condemn us to their non-existant h**l. Not to mention the horrible history religion has of killing and going off to war in the name of their God. How many scientific discoveries has religion hindered? So why shouldn't I complain when someone keeps trying to shove their beliefs in my face?

Well for me I've had to look for religion for myself. They've been okay with me and answered things I've asked. They know I just want to learn. Not had any problems with them yet as long as they leave me to do my own thing I don't mind.

trouble is that they genuinely think that they are saving you. best thing is to understand their intentions and give them the patience to hear their point of view. Personally I do this and them give them my point of view. If they don't listen or push harder you know that they are never going to be a good friend despite their protest unless you agree, but I have some fantastic christian friends with whom I share nothing in common and disagree about everything but because we are both open minded and patient in any given evening we enjoy many drinks together. not that the banter doesn't get heated, (they often joke that i should enjoy life cos I'm gonna burn in h**l but it's all for giggles) give them the time of day because there's nothing nicer in this world than being nice

It ain't going to happen because the Christians cannot have it both ways. They want to elect the president and run the country, but they don't want anyone to question what they teach.

Either give up one or the other. Can't have it both ways... so I agree wholeheartedly with you even though I am a Christian.
