Why do Republicans claim to put "Country First" when their policies are based on individual profits?

What will help the country more than rewarding individual initiative and achievement?  How does it help the country to "reward" those that are unsuccessful with government handouts?  It seems that policy has created a large segment of people that have been on welfare for decades.

I heard this asked of Democrats about corporate taxes and profits.  -   Democrats want to add more taxes to profitable corporations.  Who do they think are getting those additional profits?  Most of the profits go to investors in the form of dividends.  Most investors are the middle class who invest through pensions and 401k plans. -  So the raising the taxes will in the long run hurt the very people the Democrats are saying they want to help.

EDIT:  The government didn't build this country or make it great - individuals did.  The only time the government was ever helpful in raising the country to a better height was during the depression.  At all other times it was individuals who made the achievements by working hard and through personal ingenuity.  The Republican party believes that individuals that earn their money through hard work and individual effort should keep it.  The Democratic party believes that there are some people that will only be able to survive with government help and recently it sounds like they believe it is the majority of people.  This policy assumes people are incapable.

its called subtrafuge...the country first thing is whats called an emotional appeal that releases certain ingredients in people's brains that cause ordinary americans temporarily lose their minds and common sense and force them to waive flags and forget abotu their own personal well being and vote for the party that supports the rich.

YOu see if you get the masses thinking around election time at a level not much higher than cromagnon...then those who beat their chests, carried clubs and dragged their women by the hair, then you have got them where you want them.

This type of scamming is evident once again in McCain's pick for VP.  In this case they are hoping to cash in on any hillary supporters who are feeling angry because a woman was not nominated by democrats for president.  They are hoping that angry women who are not thinking clearly but rather at levels closer to cromagnon or neanderthal will actualy vote for a republican even though they are democrats.

McCAin is hoping to divide and conquer....a tactic used in the past by notoriously evil people.

The country is supposed to run on the premise that personal freedom and ambition results in a great country, because, in most cases, you can count on individuals to act in their own best interest.  

We've turned into a welfare state, where people are happy to subsist on a pittance, so long as they don't have to work for it.  

We'd all be better off if each person depended on their own work to purchase goods and services, and did not count on productive people being taxed to pay for those services for them.

It's called capitalism.  It renders the highest quality of life in the history of the planet.
