  1. They would rather use the money for militaries

  2. It's not the Government's job to provide for a person's retirement, it's the person's job to provide for their own retirement. More personal responsibility and less reliance on the Government is how a country succeeds.

I could do a much better job with the money the Government takes for SS then they could/do.

  3. Well, SS is taxpayer money being taken from working people then spread out to non-working, needy people.

It is the definition of socialism.  Oh wait, social security, socialism.  I get it.

Why can't I say "I will renounce any future ss money if I can have the option of putting my ss taxes into my own 401k?"

hmmm, let me put my own money into my own savings account.  Go figure...

You know why Democrats are against it?  Because a large percentage of their base does not have the working capacity to save for themselves.  They have to have a handout.

  4. Call me crazy but I would like a higher return for my lifetime of investment than what Social Security offers; about 2.2%.

  5. most republicans I know have all the money they need to live and save money and take fancy expensive trips.. while those of us who need Social Security are basically "poor".. and for every person who gets Soc sec..that's one less $1000 suit they get to wear...what a shame.

  6. Because Socialist Insecurity has become another federal revenue enhancement program.  Ever hear of a "Socialist Insecurity surplus"?  That is the excess amount the federal government has stolen from working Americans and shifted to other unconstitutional programs because it was not needed to pay current benefits.  There is no money in the SS "trust fund" because it was all stolen by politicians with a platinum parachute (taxpayer funded) retirement plan.  This socilait program needs to be eliminated or, at least, made optional.

  7. Republicans want to fix Social Security.  Democrats just want to hide the reality of it from voters until after the November elections.  Democrats invented SS, they looted its coffers, and now they want to hide what they did.

Obama's idea of "fairness" is higher prices, higher taxes and lower Social Security benefits.

Don't kid yourselves.  That is EXACTLY what his agenda involves.

UPDATE:  Social Security has been sold to us as an INSURANCE program:  You pay for benefits and you receive them.  But it's really just a tax and welfare scheme.  The government has spent every dime that SS have ever taken in.  There is no SS "Trust Fund."  When people say "The 'rich'  can afford to retire without taking SS," that may be true for a very small number of people, but why should anyone not take the benefits he or she paid for and was "promised?"  Those who think the rich should pay but not receive have just voted for a 13% tax increase on the "rich."  Our elected "representatives" are robbing us blind but they have convinced you that the "rich" are to blame for poverty!  You better open your eyes before they are glued shut.

  8. Because they didn't invent it and want to destroy it.

  9. My guess is it's because that Social Security is stealing the money we give them to throw executive parties in Las Vagas and spending our money on things they shouldn't be spending it on.  I'm not a repub so like I say, it's just a guess.

  10. Republicans do not like social security because the baby boom has caused the government to not have enough to pay for people in the future. Also, why should the government be handling our money? If we earned it, it should be our decision whether or not to save it for retirement.

  11. Because it's going to go bankrupt, and they want to fix it.

  12. They don't like Social Security because their wealthy constituents don't like Social Security. The wealthy have enough money to retire and live comfortably for the rest of their lives. The other 95% of the US population doesn't. The reason Social Security is going bankrupt is because of irresponsible Presidents like Ronald Reagan (and yes, Clinton probably did it too) who "borrowed" money from the Social Security Trust Fund to make their projected deficits appear smaller and never paid that money back.
