Question:

Why do SO many people assume "Global Warming" exists just because Al Gore says so??

I've found overwhelming evidence against this environmental theory, and the fact that theres appallingly insufficient evidence from climate change - advocating scientists now. However, what shocks me the most is when I ask someone to provide me with evidence of rapid global warming, they just say "We'll its SO obvious! Can't you see the world is warming?!"

We'll, wow....what a supported claim right?

People are jumping the gun on this, particularly the media, based on flawed, insufficient, over-exaggerated evidence from Al Gore and other advocates.

Why don't people question what him and the media are just assuming to be truth, which it can EASILY be proven isn't, and blindly accepting it as fact?

  1. Al Gore must be the greatest scientist who ever lived, right?

And all his supporters are great scientists too!

Problem is...their science is called 'junk science'.

Will he be wrestling polar bears on tv any time soon? Hope so!!

  2. peer pressure.  Look at the political race and the superdelegates.  Al is a bit of a Drama Queen though isn't he?

  3. It amazes me on the great variables that nature uses to keep every thing in balanced. They are worried about CO2 but this is just the way plants and photosynthesis recycle our oxygen. It also recycles the C into fossil fuel. Just natures cycle of energy storage.

  4. The evidence for global warming has nothing to do with Al Gore and is completely independent of what he says.  I don't see any evidence provided by you, but I do have a 1000 page document prepared by the IPCC that is pretty convincing.

Why don't you take your overwhelming evidence and publish it in a refereed scientific journal, rather than just spouting off about it on Yahoo?

  5. Hey, if you're satisfied with the "overwhelming evidence" you've found, fine.  But Al Gore saying global warming is happening isn't enough for me or for most people.  We're more likely to say, "Gore has long been interested in the environment, and now he's talking about global climate change and serious impacts to the planet.  Maybe I should check this out and see if he's on the level about this."

Which is basically what I did, anyway.  I'll share a wee bit of the evidence I've found.  Whether it is overwhelming or not by your standards, I don't know.  I learned a lot in my initial research, and I'm still learning a lot, because now I'm delving into associated topics that individually are important but are also important collectively.

The media is mostly about profit nowadays.  The media is not where I'm getting my information.  I'm reading abstracts and checking out -- well, just take a look at the sites below, and you'll see the tip of the iceberg (before it melts) as far as my sources go.  I'll provide sites from my 'government' and 'other' categories if you request it.

  6. There are many reasons.

    1. People believe that global warming is happening because it is.

    2. Al Gore has done a TONE of research on the subject of global warming so he knows a lot about it even if some of the things he says are unrealistic.

3.Global warming is just a part of climate change. Some places it gets much hotter and others much colder. A lot of places have both, some days are really hot, the next it is really cold.

  7. Al Gore has nothing to do with my opinion

I knew about global warming way before i had ever heard of Al Gore

    You obviously did not.

  8. I have no idea why people are following him like little sheep. All i know is that I live in Portland and it still feels like winter.

  9. although im really not sure if Global Warming exists...i think it is still important we care about our environment and if it takes a movie by Al Gore on something that probably doesn't even exist...then fine!

  10. Just because Al Gore says there's global warming does not guarantine there is global warming. I believe there is global warming because of some climate changes that is very major in some parts of the world. The ice caps or glacials are melting near the north or south poles. The polar bears are going to become extinct because they live in climate changes.

Also, in my area, it starts to get warmer than usual. There's heat waves, and its awful.

I'm not so sure because I haven't watched the news so much, and I don't like to watched the news or the media. The media brainwashes people, but I won't babble about it here.

I can't believe someone gave you that answer to global warming. Its so stupid.

  11. If you think there's "appallingly insufficient evidence from climate change", then you haven't done much research.

I don't care what Al Gore says.  I care about the scientific evidence, which overwhelmingly supports the man-made global warming theory (see link below).

  12. It is a master brainwash to provoke panic in societies.

    My 2 cents.

  13. Al is ridiculous.

It's things like this that show us why he was never elected president!

  14. they keep pushing the issue so that car companies can make and sell their stupid hybrid cars. its all a marketing scheme. not just this global warming thing.... anything thats brought up by some politician probably means he was lobbied by some corporation to argue something in their favor

  15. Too bad you didn't post any links to the "overwhelming evidence against this environmental theory".  It's hard to point out the errors in unsubstantiated assertions.

I personally couldn't care less what Al Gore says about global warming, but I do care what these people say:

    http://ipcc-wg1.ucar.edu/wg1/Report/AR4W...

I've read or skimmed quite a bit of scientific literature from these people and I'm quite confident that it trumps whatever evidence you think you've found.

  16. Wow, thanks for posting your "overwhelming evidence."

    "there's appaliningly insufficient evidence"

    Lol, the irony.

  17. Well definitely, someone telling you they can "see the world is warming" is pretty ridiculous.  :)

Al Gore is a politician, so of course he's coming at it from a certain left-wing slant - and you'll certainly have people believing him or disbelieving him just on that basis.

But he's only one person who is speaking out on the issue. There is some compelling evidence in favor of global warming, such as this link which attempts to illustrate how the earth's average temperatures have indeed warmed substantially since 1860, also that atmospheric CO2 is up 34% since what it's calling "pre-industrial times," and that methane gas ("yummy") is up 145% since the early 1900's.  You can read all that here, but it's my humble attempt at giving you an executive summary.

Anyway, I'm not an Al Gore lover or hater, and I wish I could tell you this stuff appears all made up.  But I'm just reading that which reflects what many others worldwide are saying, that global warming is a real environmental concern.

    I hope that helps.

  18. cuz ders so much evidence.

  19. Politicians and orators exagerrate.  It gets attention and gets the message across.   It is drama.

. . . but Al also wrote a book and made a movie.  His concerns *are* based on science, even if his projections are a bit startling.

  20. AGW makes a lot of people happy. Governments because it gives them more power. People like Al Gorbal warming because it gives him more money and keeps his big ego relative. Environmentalists, because it readily accommodates their human hating agenda.

  21. Hi hey,

I would just like to pen my views here.  Just as AL gore's movie and book give "certain evidences" of global warming, similarly other scientists disagree with his views.  In fact there's a group of people that believe that global warming is non existent.  Each one of them trusts and forwards his views contradicting the others.  Its like looking thru a pinhole and comprehending the world.

Now for your question.  Most people have watched his movies and so they believe that what he says is true.  If some other high ranking politician were to come out with a movie discounting what AL shows, with photographic and scientific evidence, then people would believe that movie.  Its how you market yourself, and AL has been successful at marketing his project.

  22. Well, is this "evidence" you've found legitimate?

Whether or not global warming is real (I believe it's happening in case you wonder), we need to find alternate sources of energy and find green ways to do our things. Take petroleum for example, do you think it's fair to pay almost a dollar for a liter of gasoline? When I remember that not too long ago it was just around the fifty cents? We're wasting money on something we can replace. Because I'm sure that out there exists many people capable of developing new things and protecting the environment in the process.

We take so much from Nature, and we don't give anything back. I think global warming is Nature's response to our reckless ways.
