  1. It's all about cost.  A dam can creates cheaper electrify than solar panels over the long run.  Solar can only create energy during the day when the sun is out.  Where would you get elecrity between sunset  and sunrise?

  2. Because solar energy still costs about 4-5 times more than conventional energy.Thats the biggest reason.

  3. Good question.  Solar hot water is cheaper than electric, but I don't think I saw more than 2 solar water heaters during the year I lived in Texas.

Landlords don't install solar because conventional stuff is cheaper to buy, and they pay the mortgage but not the utilities.  Tenants would probably have lower total outlays if their units had solar hot water and heat, but they don't get a choice in the matter.

  4. Solar Energy has a vary high dollar start up cost. Is one of the reason, plus two of those states are among the poorest states in the United States. A lot of it has to do with economic. Plus one of Texas largest industries  is oil. Solar Energy my be a better cleaner way to produce electricity. But until we as a people take it amongst are self's and adjust the way we live . By finding way to cut fossil fuel use in are daily live . To show industry we no longer are willing to make it so profitable for them. There is no reason for them to change. One way to start is instead of driving your car to the gym were you work out. Run Walk jog ride your bike skateboard or scooter to the gym were you work out. That way you will not have to use the bike or tread mill at the gym. Because they are plugged into the wall and burn electricity and more often then not they made that electricity with the burning of fossil fuel.

  5. Oil, coal,  and hydro-electric companies.

There are several ways to get electricity, but the oil burning, coal burning, hydro-electric power companies have their choke hold on the U.S. energy market.

They are well established with lobbyist and politicians in high places backing them.

Green energies like solar, wind, and geothermal  will always be small because they are not well represented in politics.

For mass implimentation the government has to be involved. With little or no representation, there is slim chance for any "green" company to see the light of day.
