Why do Sugar Gliders have hair between their legs?

This question is do with the evolution and apperance of a sugar glider.

  1. Sugar gliders have fur all over their body...


  2. They have probably only recently started gliding.  The hair most likely doesn't significantly interfere with the glide and it would provide some protection from crashing into trees when they land.  That would be my guess.
