Why do TV advertisers treat women as gullible fools? They overwhelmingly target females rather than males in their marketing stategies. This would seem to indicate that they see women as more uncritical and gullible and therefore more likely to buy the products they are trying to sell.

  1. for the same reason they treat men as easily manipulated by women (not to mention ridiculed)

  2. Unfortunately, yes.

  3. Because they are gullible fools.

  4. I hate that too, especially yoghurt adverts about dieting and that.

  5. i agree with tess t... we are. half the time we dnt even realise we are being advertised to but it all effects us and what we buy/watch.

  6. -women buy more stuff they dont need.

-women do more of the shopping for a household.

-if a woman is a mother she is doing the shopping for her kids as well.

just because someone thinks I am a gullible fool doesnt make me one. I also find many advertisements condescending. however I think the marketers know that people are getting smarter and smarter and they're trying to make their ads better accordingly. if you feel offended by an ad that means it's a poorly done ad.

  7. TV is part of mass media-land, the liberalese empire: and liberals are notorious for insulting everyone's intelligence.

  8. They advertise to the people who are the most likely to spend. Women.

Haven't you ever heard the Key Demographic?

Women 18-36 and 18-49  are the two main demographics with regards to advertising. That's how the business works.

  9. because we are.....

  10. Most women if we see a bargain we buy it. I am not like that but most of us do get conned easily.

  11. Are you seriously telling me they don't treat men and children in the same way? Maybe different products but the same strategy - and it works because they wouldn't do it otherwise.

  12. Advertisers treat everyone as gullible fools, but in different ways. (Take Dove and their pseudofeminist "Campaign for Real Beauty". Unilever owns them AND Axe, with their ads where the scent of their products turns women into strippers. If that isn't cynical, I don't know what is.)

What I've heard is that advertisers are most likely to target men between 18 and 35 (or something like that).

  13. I don't know who the h**l you are but you're wrong, women are being portrait are strong, smart and beautiful but men are the ones that suffer and being treated like sh*t in every commercial, the guys are always selling the competion while girls always sell the good product.

  14. I've read that in the past women gathered food stuffs while men went out hunting.  Today gathering has been replaced by shopping.

    Plus women purchase more products.

  15. Even nowadays the vast majority of weekly shops are still done by women, so most of the products are aimed to appeal to them.

  16. Nah, the guys are pictured as dumb too.

More often than women dude >_>
