  1. tasmanians dont hate outsiders. some prefer to  preserve its cultures although younger generations think it's necessary to move on. there is not clash, young ones move elsewhere and it's all good.

i came to australia for university and lived in tassie for five years . people are absolutely friendly (a few young ones threw eggs at us) but 99% of the people are much friendlier than mainlanders. i feel deeply about what the girl above me says. after living in tassie for five years, i got used to saying hello how are you to everyone i meet on the street. so when i moved to the mainland two years ago, i had a culture shock, people dont even smile at each other.

in 50 years time, i wish tassie would still be the same it is today.

i yearn to go back. and i will. this, i have promised myself

  2. Probably because they live on an island. In 50 years I think it will be the same as it is now!!!!

  3. Don't know where you got you info from but it's not correct, I moved here 3 years ago and have been accepted  as a local,  even before that I found Tasmanians incredibly friendly and helpful to to me as a visitor.

Evolution is an accepted fact and taught in our schools, the only people I am aware of who don't like it are religious fundamentalists.

Tassy is again growing (economy, population, confidence) we have a lively and vibrant arts scene, international tourism is a major industry, our farmers produce super premium organic produce that mainlanders and overseas pay handsomely for, as a group we have embraced the need for ecological sustainability more than any other state (although at times our government lags behind), it is the only state to have legal same s*x unions. All this and more is why so many people are moving here.

It's a great place now and in 50 years will be even better

  4. I have lived in Tasmania for my whole life. Although we don't have half the things the mainland does, I wouldn't trade living here for anything.

Sure, we may be a little behind, but who cares. How many states in Australia have people like us?? This state is the most friendliest state out there. If you walk down the road, people smile & say hello. If someone bumps into you, they apologise.

Yeah, our ways may be different, but I am proud to say I am Tasmania. In 50 years we will still be the lovely caring people we are. Still have the best wildlife, nature and people in the whole of Australia. Best of all Tassie will always have ME!

  5. I have visited Tasmania about a dozen times and have never found the people to be anything but friendly and usually more so than their mainland cousins. As far as evolution is concerned, there are some ignorant Old Testament Fundamentalists in Tasmania just as there are everywhere but Tassie is to the forefront of science in Australia. The University of Tasmania is a major centre of excellence in marine biology and other marine sciences and the Australian Antarctic Division does a vast amount of science at its base south of Hobart.

Tasmania is a beautiful, friendly State. Visit once and you will always want to go back there.

  6. Tasmania is nice, I would like to live there, the people are probably very friendly.

Where do you get your statistics from, tasmanians hate evolution? you cant just make up stereotypes you know.
