Why do Trey Parker and Matt Stone dislike celebrities so much?

Does anyone know why? I've heard them comment about celebrities before, and they mentioned they dislike them very much, but they didn't say why.

They don't dislike celebrities.  Picking on celebrities has made Parker & Stone filthy rich.  They don't like the attitude most celebrities have.

I think it is more the cult of celebrity worship. Celebrities now take of the role of royalty. Looks, clothes, cars, houses, glamour and money make the Grade and being untouchable is exciting for some. Whether they have talent or not is moot. The people out there making a difference in the world just don't have the cache of Ms. Hilton.

Oh give me those days when the deaths of great poets and artists were mourned. It's a very materialist society and there just aren't any heroes worth the copy.

Can you blame them, most are goofballs.. self-important, and not realizing how easy it All is, if making big money for nothing, like acting... THEN, thinking their limited viewpoints are meaningful, because they'd get media coverage if they burped on camera?  come on, now...

Well its kind of their jo to satirize America's obsession with thing, it just happens that America is obsessed with celebrities. They are very good at their job too and despite being very funny the comedy they present to you on South Park really makes you think and often makes you realize how silly you can be sometimes.

I think they're actually commenting about the cult of personality that surrounds celebrities.  They seem to reserve their harshest criticism for celebrities who come to believe in their own cults, who start to think of themselves as important and better than others simply because of their celebrity status.

These guys graduated from Columbine high school.  need I say any more?
