Why do Turkeys have wrinkly skin on their necks, and heads over their beaks?

What's the point of the wrinkly skin? Can someone please answer this question for me?

  1. The fleshy skin on a gobbler's (male) neck is called a wattle.  The appendage above the beak is called a snood.  The wattle changes color during breeding season and is probably a sexual display.  I have no idea what a snood is for!
