Question:

Why do US fans always use the same excuse?

Everytime they lose or don't play at the level they were expected they always say, "its because we are a young nation in this sport," and etc....Let me tell you something that is the lamest excuse ever. Let me put it this way, how did the Mexican players from 1934 help the Mexican players from today? In no way at all. What matters is the current players you have and how you develop their talent. And for that reason the US should always be a "strong" team since they have the resources, (academies,

fitness centers, camps, equipment, knowledgeable instructors etc..), that many nations don't so that right there is already an advantage to develop your current players far more than other nations have the possibility of doing. There is the fact that you need the talent to be able to develop it but there are many youth players in the US with talent and the resources to develop it. Mexico started developing resources for the youth in the 80's so then you can say they are also a young nation in this sport. So don't come around with the excuse that you are a young nation in football since you have far more resources than other nations and its the how you develop your current players, that truly matters.

  1. miguel, excuse for what?  USA has nothing to make excuses for, except maybe having a poor World Cup in 2006. OK--I'm the first to admit that:  we really were a disapointment there. After that....Gold Cup champions,  friendly wins against Mexico, Poland, Sweden, South Africa, a draw with Argentina......Qualification for the Olympics....What do you want me to make an excuse for?  USA soccer is improving by leaps and bounds.  Mexico needs to be finding excuses:  lost the Gold Cup, lost games to Honduras, Guatamala, USA, failed to qualify for the Olympics.....What's Mexico's excuse?

USA needs an excuse for not being being better than Brazil?????  C'mon, give me a break!!! No! USA is not the best team in the entire world---I'm ready to admit that.  But get a clue:  Mexico is no Brazil, either.

  2. America can have all the resources in the world with academies and so forth, but as long as the general attitude toward the sport exists then they will never be world beaters.

It is the biggest sport in the world but with it's isolationist attitude to team sport America will keep on with it's military precision games.

You only have to look back at the farce that was the World Cup finals in the US to see that they, not only wanted rule changes, but turned it into such a farce that the world is still laughing after all these years

  3. Australia is better than you both.

21 million people and we still come 4th in every Olympics on the medal tally.

We also have more people playing football in Europe than both of you.(Well more than USA at least).

    Now children, stop fighting.

LOL but seriously...race doesn't mean anything, and to say African Americans are born physically stronger is a stupid statement...What about the Chinese who have won more medals in the Olympics than USA so far? A Chinese woman also won gold the weight lifting yesterday...

  4. Yes the US does make excuse. And when a team plays horrible against them, and the scores shows a draw or a win they believe they are truly improving. I wonder why is it that most of the games the US plays are in the US. Isn't it just a bit curious that for the Olympic qualifiers for the CONCACAF the US play in Miami against Cuba, where a large population of Cubans happen to be, and that Mexico and Guatemala played in LA. Anyway, The US may lay claim to making it to the Confederations Cup and the Olympics, but have they one any titles outside of CONCACAF tournaments, last time I check they have not. For Mexico, it seems teams actually play good against them for the most part, something that the US can really claim, seeing as how they got a draw against Argentina. It seems that US doesn't like to focus on its negatives to improve and become a better team. Mexico has had its fair mistakes, and they are trying to learn from them, I think that the reason they got a new coach, while the US seems to stick with the old no matter what.

Well the US still hasn't learn to US soccer to their advantage, Galaxy is a prime example wasting 200 million dollars on Beckham. They seem to be improving a bit with the talent they have, it still no not enough focus on soccer to develop the youth in the United states. The US only has one divisions, and the same teams stay in it, how that going to better the competition at that level. There needs to be relegations, just like in every other country. And its not just about the facilities and the equipment, or corporations investing on the MLS, its about the athletes. How many US born citizens care about football, not soccer because thats not its true name. Other countries might not have the equipment or the facilities, but they have the athletes, people who care for the sports. Adu did not develop his talent in the US he already had it, thats why he was being scouted at age 9 was it. The is a movement toward football in the US, maybe in time it will show, maybe not as talented as say Argentina, Brazil, France, ect., but talented none the less. And I doubt being transfer to Europe actually helps, I see more prayers lose what made them good in the first place. Where did Maradona, Crespo, Ronaldo, Messi, David Suazo, Riquelme, ect., get their start. Correct me if I am wrong but it was in this continent, some made their name bigger by going to Europe. I trying to say is that there is talent in the Americas and we shouldn't be trick by networks such as ESPN, and think that Europe makes these players better. These players were good from the start. They played as children and continue to play, but in the US many children quit the sport after some years.

Edit: In some cases Europe does help. How do you know that about Messi. He started his pro career in Barcelona, and he is still there. European clubs have more money and they use it to show their team, through players. Thats why Cesar Delgado when to France, because he would get more exposure in the media and giving him a better chance to be called up to for the Argentina national team. There are plenty of time where the champion of Libertadores/SudAmericana have beat the champion of Champions/EUFA. Not every team has dept at every single position for the competition of the best of the best for one spot to be true. Every league has mediocore players, people are just more impress by European leagues. Look at all the talent in Mexico with Villaluz, Sanches, Ochoa, Zinha, ect. Where did Camoranesi, Pardo, Salcido get their start in Mexico. Thats were they became good players, and not in Europe. If people would stop thinking that you become great by going to Europe, The American continent has fine teams where players can develop their skills such as in Europe. European clubs just has more money to show for it, thats the only difference, that and height.

  5. the USA has the money (which is being spent on the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and PGA.) but lacks a mature developed talent pool. the USA's youth has an extremely young, but deep talent pool that is being developed in club soccer and highschools. the USA is improving however. highschools are developing into highly competitive environments where young talent is nurtured and at the same time pushed. colleges are doing better jobs at picking out prospects, exposing them to pressure and responsibility, and treating them like mature athletes whose skill if an object of value. the MLS then acts to "draft" the top players from the college arena.

where is the problem? the problem is that the money isn't available for the MLS to develop the young talent because they are wasting money on other things (new stadiums, new teams, new players with huge price tags). then the young players and mediocre players get underpaid 'cause the big foreigners get the fattest paychecks. the worst part is that the MLS isn't gaining money because soccer isn't popular in the USA so their stadiums aren't filling and the merchandise isn't selling. why should the big business companies invest with capital on a league with almost pathetic interest invested in it when they could invest in highly lucrative and popular leagues like the NBA or NFL?

the USA's problem or excuse hence is that very little talent that once was a huge talent pool has made it to thrive in the MLS. that's why you rarely hear about players like Adu and Altidore. from what i've seen the USA's technical strategies and tactics have made them semi-successful despite their lack of talent.

what mexico has done right is develop young talent- not in highschools- but 4th, 5th division teams. and the money isn't being wasted on big names in the primera division but rather invested equally and hopefully to the point where they can export more players to europe.

wow cannot believe i wrote that much...

  6. im sorry to say but i think that excuse (disadvantages of a young league) is very valid indeed. Hey you even said your self

"What matters is the current players you have and how you develop their talent"

and how do you develop talent?? Through experienced veterans, through experienced coaches, through experienced management. The key word is experience.  One has experience and passes along to others and so on and so forth. Its a chain that takes generations of players and coaches. As people get better, they will pass on knowledge on how they got to where they were and young athletes use that to better themselves.  People get better by playing with better people. You see the results after many years.  Take the MLS for example:

against mexican clubs in the first 10 years of its existence MLS are 10-17-4

in the past year and a half, MLS are 12-9-7 (im not saying that MLS are better than FMF from this stat so dont jump to conclusions ppl)

At first, things start out shaky and as seasons progress people retire new ones come in and experience is exchanged between the two. So now the newer players are better off now than those with no experience to learn from at all.

  7. I like how every1s avoiding the question and stating facts about their random country. lol.

When it comes down to it, the US is an OK team, Mexico is better, end of story

  8. What really matters is winning the world cup.

I dont see mexico winning anytime soon.

I also dont see USA winning one either.

  9. The US is a young team at the game of soccer.

    That statement is true.

    what is etc.?

what history do the US has? none

what does that maskes us? young

how old is our league? younger than you.

  10. gringos jotos como los dettesto

  11. USA is bad at soccer they say USA isnt a young nation they have been in sports for a long time mexico is the best at soccer even though USA went to the olympics mexico will always be better than usa

  12. because they suck, just like mexico

  13. Personally i have never heard that excuse from any US Soccer person or even fan on any forums, but honestly you need to chill with this whole USA vs Mexico thing, guess who's in the Olympics and going to the Confederations cup, so instead of asking for our "supposed"" excuses why don't you explain your recent ones on bad results against us. You said that we brag about how we beat you because we view you as a powerhouse which is true, but since you are righting about this and all that it probably means most Mexican fans are intimidated/threatened by an up and rising US Soccer. And you won't admit it but it is true, and you probably know it, whenever you here the USA vs Mexico in a big tournament you will see, you know why, because the USA players play with more of a determination when playing Mexico. Which is why we hope to play you guys in knock-out rounds because we are not scared of you. I just said this in another answer, and i will say it again "there is a thing called mutual respect" and honestly instead of wishing c**p on the US Soccer (like many rivals do lol) you should kind of hope there is more quality so you will get the h**l of a game. Thanks for asking this because I wanted to get it off my chest.  Peace

    BJMx

    EDIT:

I NEVER said you talked c**p about the US i said(or meant to say) that many rivals do that which is why there is hate in the game, this Dynamo18 guy or whatever is probably one of those people wishing bad  stuff to the Mexican team, but honestly i never said anything bad about Mexico in my answer I just said that the USA beat them in recent results, so I am not the ignorant one, notice how much anger came in your response to my answer =_=

    Edit2:

I didnt say u talked c**p i meant this guy from yours and mine other answer:

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

and how do i dissapoint peru or whatever u said. And from that link you gave me thats 1 guy and this is Yahoo Answers, you can't expect a quality answer all the time, and he probably doesn't know what he means

  14. its actually the same when ever a team is in a slump, everyone finds excuses. so no biggy mexico has done it US has done it, even Brasil argentina and so on, so its really not that big of a deal. man everyone exargerates like the American media. hey dont thumb me down because i speak the truth. Im a fan of mexico.

  15. On a worldwide level, the U.S. does very well in the sports that black americans dominate.

  16. WHOA LONG ANSWERS.

This is true, what MiguelC says. Why? Because Americans always see their AYSO leagues for toddlers and think "Hey, the next generation is gonna play soccer, and they're gonna be awesome (we're new at this, you just wait)."

But these kids, once they're 10 years old, have quit soccer in favor of football, basketball and baseball. Only the nongifted athletes keep playing soccer. A few get good; most are lame.

So the American NT continues to be mostly mediocre.

  17. Why does it matter? The Mexicans are the ones that need excuses. We haven't lost to them since we played in Mexico.
