Why?

If (according to feminists) physical strength is the only TRUE advantage or "Power" men have over women... how can that be an issue now? In what ways have men used their phyiscal strength to hold women back in the past 100 years?

Feminists often claim that their are some cultures in the world where the "women" dominate. YET.. they have never given a single example. I'd like to see one... because if thats true, women in the middle east and U.S. really have nothing holding them back.

So can someone explain:

A. What gives men more power than women in 2008? How?

B. Is physical strength the ONLY edge men have? If so.. whats holding women back now?

  1. First of all, I'm not so sure that men have more power in 2008.  Yes, men hold more political offices (and I'm talking about the US here), but, feminism has its influence...and it is a huge influence, to be certain.  So there is power coming from outside political offices that put direct pressure on those who hold those offices.  Say what you will about feminism (good or bad or something in between), the results are all around you.  They affect laws, policies, sentencing, community resources, family law, and health care dollars.

Women exerting influence behind the scenes are not as powerless as you might imagine.

It seems to me that what you are looking for here (by asking these questions) is a confirmation that men are superior to women.

You might ask yourself why you feel the need to confirm such an idea.

  2. we dont except for govt money for staying home raising kids. How many men are willing to put careers on hold for 15 yrs?

  3. It's not only physical strength, it's centuries of building up a power structure that is exclusive not just excluding women, but also poor people and other races.

Things have come a long way, but it doesn't boil down to your simplistic dichotomy.

  4. A. Years of controlling things while degrading women.  Making agreements with one another to keep the women where they think they belong while attempting to make other women side against them so that those women can be looked favorably upon so that men will marry them.  The power to exclude.

    B. Same answer as A.

Cultures run by women... See Existing matrifocal cultures on this site... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matriarchy.  However I am not for female run countries.  I believe both sexes should lead.

  5. like i said before

imagine if you will..... the story of Arthur and the sword in the stone, the feminist would say

“I WILL SIT HERE FOREVER IF NECESSARY

UNTIL SOMEONE COMES AND PULL THE SWORD FROM THE STONE......

AND THEN HAND IT TO ME, thus PROVING I AM THE TRUE LEADER AND SOVEREIGN”

THAT is FEMINIST thinking in a nut shell!!!! lol

  6. I am fervently against affirmative action and quotas. Anyone who would support such a thing implies that the group they advocate for is truly inferior and some way, and must need a boost in order to reach certain levels, positions, etc...

  7. We DON'T. We got them anyway because of how other people perceived us, and now we're objecting to them.

  8. They lack the same focus as men.

  9. As long as men are making rules that benefit them at the expense of women, it's fair for women to be able to make laws that counter those rules.

  10. We are mad cause we can't stand up to pee! Well we can, but it would be very messy.    GIRL POWER!!!!!!!

  11. First off, I need to address your comparison between middle eastern and American women.  This is a laughable comparison, because women in the middle east truly are "held back."  Ever hear of a little religion called Islam?  That little religion just so happens to say that women and men are not equal, that men are to dominate women in all ways, and that women are basically powerless.  Think I'm making it up?  Go pick up a Qur'an and give it a read.  So to compare the two countries is ludicrous.  Women in the middle east are persecuted for showing so much as a cheekbone.  In the news a few months ago a woman was beaten to death for "allowing" another man to flirt with her, yet had she spoken up she would have been punished for disrespecting a man.  Do you see the hypocrisy?  We could spend hours debating this, but none of that will answer your question.

What gives men more power than women in 2008?  Look, this is really a pointless question -- as long as individuals hold their own opinions, there will be radicals on either side of the fence.  There will always be people that feel they are unjustly treated.  Are women still treated unfairly IN AMERICA?  Not really.  Do men have more power IN AMERICA?  Not really.

Is physical strength the only edge men have?  If so, what's holding women back now?  Another pointless question.  Gender doesn't determine intelligence.  In terms of physical strength, it's very possible to find a woman that is stronger than a man or vice versa.

I think your questions, if developed more, could inspire a strong conversation, but as it is, I think you are more or less asking how SOCIETY views women.

P.S. Last I checked, England had a queen and a woman was running for president.

  12. Forced matriarchy hurts innocents like children.

Answer: It is easier to us a club than wait generations before women rule.

  13. Any and all laws, guidelines and unspoken rules used for the sole purpose of leveling the playing field result in discrimination and persecution. You can never justify committing one sin to right another. There are and will always be people who have a clear advantage for an abundance of reasons, some people are just better at some things than others, some are born to privilege but applying quotas or lowering standards is no way to solve problems.

A soccer league in Maryland decided to remove players from a strong team while playing a game so as to give the other team a man advantage and make the game more even. Is that fair, maybe the winning team practiced harder and earned their excellence. But now thanks to leveling the playing field the best or us must be forced to play down. is that really good for anyone?

  14. (some) men have strength

    (some) woman have s*x appeal

a good looking woman has more sway in todays world of laws than a strong man.

i saw a thing on taboo one time that showed one of the places where the woman where in charge it was some like 5th world country in indinasia or something

I dont know its a proven fact that the school systems have been remodled in a way that favours the girls. in the last 15 years or so. They should be doing just fine.

  15. A. What gives men more power than women in 2008? How?

society, humans lived for years on years based on the knowledge that men are "more" than women, its difficult to change such perceptions in society after so many years, but its happening bit by bit... eventually as new generations freshly starting with these new ideas, society will change over time.

    B. Is physical strength the ONLY edge men have? If so.. whats holding women back now?

i believe so.... nothing should be different other than physical strength.

whats holding women nowadays? still, the old ideas that are rooted so deep in society, just like i said in answer A

  16. Only if special privileges are unjustly denied purely because of sexism.
