I am shocked at how many of these "questions" I see on Yahoo questions and answers.

Why are women turning to the internet and not a legal adotion agency?

  1. They do ???????

  2. some want a baby so bad, that they will try to get one anyway possible. what they don't understand is that they can open themselves up for fraud if they do this way and not thru an accredited adoption agency or thru state foster care.

  3. I think there are a segment of the internet posters who do so because they either want to get around the regular adoption proceedings/costs or because they have some other nefarious purpose in mind.  There's also the segement that is putting it out there just to see what happens, with no intent to adopt at all.

I don't think this is the majority reason.  I think that some couples are desperate to adopt a child and want to reach out to as many people as possible.  I think it's partially lack of education on the possible problems associated with this, as well as simply not understanding the inappropriateness of posting something on this (or a similar) forum.  I don't think it's entitlement, I think it's trying to put the word out, hoping that their message will reach the right person.

There's some that do it for bad reasons and some that just don't know any better.

  4. I guess they are trying to reach out to anyone in any possible way

  5. I would guess for some reason or another they did not pass a house inspection or were denied by an agency for some reason or another.

I find it disgusting to troll the internet for a baby, children aren't pets, a civilized person can not honestly think it OK to search the net for a child.

  6. I hadn't ever seen a question like this...although Im sure she is desperate to have a child to call her own.

  7. Desperate for a baby.  Agencys are expensive.

  8. I have not seen anyone ask about getting a baby from someone over the internet but I did come on here and asked if someone could possibly help me find a website about any adoption agency in illinois because me and my hubby are considering adoption and I was not having any luck lookin up an agency but asked if others knew of one and could give me a site or something so i can check it out and see if thats the agency i want to go with or not. But it is wrong to ask someone you don't even know to hand over their baby to u and i think people should find a different way. If they can not past the requirements of an adoption agency then they don't need a child as the requirements are not hard i mean if u don't have enough many there is things u could do to get the money up

  9. People are getting desperate to have kids and they don't want to pay the adoption agencies and have to wait for years. I still don't think it is right for them to do so. I mean, if they cannot afford to pay a family law attorney to arrange a private adoption, how can they afford to raise a child?

  10. personally I think alot of the posts of women searching for a baby to adopt on Y/A are posts made by trolls.  The posts are meant to stir us up and cause dissention.

  11. strange people tend to troll the internet for many things these days. Scary. To adopt one must still pass all the guidelines of their state or area, even if they find the baby in strange places.  Background checks, homestudies, etc.

  12. Because legal adoption agencies have allsorts of rules and regulations so your more likely getting a baby off the internet.

    sad really :\

  13. I think that many of these questions as well as some of the other odd (but, appear to be often asked) questions in this category are written by trolls.

Most of the time a very new account--or one with very few points.

I think these questions are posted by trolls wanting to continue to promote an agenda. If you will notice a great many of the questions die without the orignal poster returning--or posting any place else.

...there are several Types of Questions being asked by trolls just to get everyone upset and lay a foundation for an argument of one pistion....

....seems like there is even a pattern to them....and that the same kinds of questions are asked routinely over and over by the same kind or people--with the same kinds of answers....

the world is just so much more diverse then it looks here...and a lot of this kind of stuff seems to be unique here--maybe due to the way people can use Yahoo Answers...

  14. They're just desperate to have a child and confused at how to get one..

  15. Some people think they are entitled to another woman's child, I guess

Kinda sick to act so predatory - they're all over gynae offices, myspace and High Schools too.

  16. They can have one of mine!

I mean, I have 10 of them so they can have a few I guess.

  17. quicker?  They can't pass the requirements of a legal adoption agency?

  18. Creepy people are everywhere.  I report these to Yahoo.

Even more creepy is that adoption agencies today troll for babies at religious schools and high schools.

  19. People get desperate.. if you really wanted something, but for whatever reason just couldn't get your hands on one, wouldn't you do whatever you could to get it?

  20. I agree with you that anyone who wishes to adopt should go through a reputable agency. But I would also like to add that for many women, the desire to become a mother is so ingrained, so all-consuming, that some women would resort to ANYTHING to bring a child into their lives.

There are a lot of first mothers and adoptees out there who are strongly against adoption as it exists.   Many of you also affirm that as adoptive parents, there is no way we can ever understand your feelings of loss (which are usually a direct result of our gain).

As an adoptive parent, I agree that reforms need to be made.  But unless you've ever had the overwhelming desire to become a parent, coupled with the inability to do so, you may never understand OUR feelings of loss and longing.  They are the same as yours, but have a different cause.  A woman who cannot give birth to a child sometimes feels she has no purpose, because she has not been able to give life.

These feelings are what make women troll the internet looking for babies.  It's wrong to do so.....but they are driven to it by their feelings.

  21. They're looking for healthy white babies, which have become quite scarce nowadays due to birth control, abortion, and more single mothers keeping their babies. If these women weren't so picky about the type of child they were willing to adopt, they wouldn't have to resort to using the Internet. They could check the foster care system and get a less desirable child for much less effort.

  22. Desperation I guess.  Families don't throw a blanket over their pregnant daughter's heads anymore and run them out of town.  Having learned the scourge of adoption for first mothers and many adoptees, most help family members keep their precious children.  This makes healthy white infants available for adoption very scare (less than 1% of unmarried pregnancies results in adoption).

I think that there a few "bad-egg" adopters who really don't care who they exploit to get what they want.  Many agencies actually encourage this behavior.  Agencies also encourage adopters to try enlist the help of OB/GYNs and high school counselors to coerce vulnerable women on their behalf.  Morality and ethics seem to get thrown out the window when some people go after infants.  Some know NO limits!  My young pregnant niece (married BTW) was approached by a woman at a store and directly solicited for her baby.  Her OB/GYN also tried to get her baby for some friends.  This happens more than people think, especially in small towns where MDs still think they are gods.

  23. One reason might be that they want to prevent an abortion.  If someone is pregnant and is thinking of an abortion maybe this could save the baby's life.  The person considering an abortion may not go to an adoption agency other wise.  The adoption might still end up going through an adoption agency just to be legal.
