  1. Men should be muscular not skinny.

  2. I have no clue, I have noticed this too among overweight people.  Perhaps it is because women tend to gain weight (as well as muscle) in their lower bodies, while men gain it in their upper.

  3. are u sure about this? im looking at mine and they look pretty small...

Women have s**y calves because tehy wear stilletto's and heels which arch your legs causing your muscle to flex and have that s**y line down the side of it.

Maybe your comparing someone out of shape who have jiggly calves to someone in shape?

  4. I'm a guy, and as a kid I always had big muscular legs (as well as calves) because my parents couldn't afford a car, so I had to walk everywhere. I had an even stronger upper body.

I think you're more talking about how fat distribution differs between the sexes.

Ah Krash, both musculature and flexibility are connected to combat skills.

  5. from wearing heals

  6. it has to do with feet size i guess, women have smaller feet, men with long\big feet tend to have their calve muslicles located higher than average.

  7. Women have more total body fat than men and certain women simply have more muscle content than others.

  8. maybe they exercise more to lose wt than men do who generally are not concerned about their looks

  9. That is a good question. It has always bothered me how my calves are bigger than my boyfriends. Neither of us are fat, but still, that difference bothers me.

  10. Because we are designed to have children. It would be awfully hard on us to have stick legs and calves to carry a baby full term. Men have upper body strength, and we have lower body strength. It was always a lot easier for me to build my calf muscles than it was my husband to build his.

  11. Because women are naturally curvier/more filled out for child bearing.

  12. Everyone has the same amount of muscle fibers.  Testosterone and exercise lead to the hypertrophy of those fibers.  However, the perceived mass of the gastrocnemius is balanced by the stretch of the fibers from the calcaneous (heel bone) insertion to the insertions on the tibia and the femur.  IE, the muscle mass is stretched the length of the shinbone.  If men on the average have a longer shinbone, then the calf muscle may appear to be smaller, in relation to the length of the lower leg because the muscle mass is stretched farther.  Tall women also appear to have a more tapered calf than shorter women.  It is a combination of exercise, hypertrophy and illusion.  Many male body builders have a hard time making their gastrocs appear in proportion to their quads, and they sometimes inject substances into the calf muscles before competitions to make the calf muscle appear larger.  Because there are health risks involved, many also get calf muscle implants.

  13. I like calves and other things too.
