Well the OT claims the earth and all things upon it were created in 7 days by God. Of course, a day by God-time standards could be like 2 billion years.

So I am guessing that we are all part of some grand experiment and have inherited the earth for now.

No telling what we will look like on the 8th day, we could grow fins on our backs, a couple of extra eyes, and be able to procreate asexually, but that all depends on HIS sense of humor.

i believe that we may never really know our exact purpose, but i feel that is OK as God has plans for us. I believe that we can at least take some comfort in knowing that at least part of our purpose on this earth is to practice charity and help our fellow brothers and sisters.

Be happy and enjoy life, just as we do.

God did not want to be alone in the Universe and decided to grant life to others.  Not just life but life in a beautiful paradise.

I think the garden of Eden was like Hawaii.  A tropical paradise.  They would have fun there and live and love and they just couldn't follow the rules.

I often think about this and most of the answers i come up with lead to negativity. As a whole humankind seems to damage everything they touch even if they think they are achieving something wonderful but of course there are certain beings that come about to make a difference and try to point us all in the right directions.

This is begging the question. First it has to be demonstrated that we were put here.  I don't know of any evidence that proves that we were.

well theres not just one specific reason. there are many ways to explain this, too. some people may say its because of adam and eve, or for religious reasons. im catholic, but thats not why i think we were put on this earth (i know it doesnt sound right haha). i think for some of us it was to serve a purpose, or help other people. for example, if you were a really good singer, you were put on this earth with a voice to entertain people. you might even have been meant to come upon the globe to do wrong. for instance, if you were a terrorist. you were obviously put on this earth to show the other people in the world that there isn't always love, or that there is going to be wrong-doing-not everything is rainbows and butterflys. do you see what im saying? whatever your role is in life, that was the purpose of you being alive, and on the planet today. BUT you also must realize that you could be a complete bum that lives on the streets. you might say, well what role does that person play? they have no life, so what was the point of them being brought here? WELL once again, there role is doing completely nothing. by them doing nothing, you are showing the world that this is another option in life. something to examplify this would be to show people that you can drop everything you have to live on the streets, or that there are people in this world that are lazy bums & do nothing. but thats OKAY because thats there ROLE!  hmm what is another role? a scientist! a doctor! maybe you were put on earth to find a cure to a disease, to ohh lets say cancer. who knows? the person that finds the cure for cancer could be born on this very day! my point is, i think we were put on this earth to serve a purpose, and play a specific role. no matter how useless, useful, or just flat out normal you are, you are still serving a purpose. what i mean when i say normal, is a person that just lives an ordinary life, has a wife and 3 kids in a normal house in a normal community. they could be considered to play the role BORING. they are still serving a purpose!!!!!! hahahah i love stressing things to people, as you can see. well thats my say on this question. i could go on and on for hours, and its hard for me to not do so. my fingers would fall off, and i'd have to jump out of my seat a few times because i'd get to excited haha (you probably inferred that when you saw my capital letters!) thanks for making my brain work!

RATIONAL: somebody of greater power and energy had thought that we would be better off on a planet where we could actually breathe and eat and drink.

WUT I THINK: we were actually some alien's pets in outer space, when one day, the alien's parents scolded it and decided that they can no longer keep the two humans. they flew over to a resourceful planet where it was close to their UFO (Earth) and dropped the pets off. that is also the reason why there had been so many reports of UFO sightings. our saviors had visited us once in a while over the years.

But don't believe me, this theory has never been proven. :D

I don't know but it seems like an experiment to me. After all, humans are a virus on the Earth wouldn't you say? I think that the Earth is a petri dish and "God" is a scientist.

Depends on which perspective you look at it from...

Evolutionist- We are here by chance and have no reason to serve on earth..Besides living and eventually dying forever.

Religion - God(s) put us here for a reason to serve Him/Her. And be rewarded for it in the end. (Most Religions anyway)

Aliens - The way I see it from aliens is... They was using us as  guinea pigs. Now, they have no use for us. So,they're laughing at us right now watching  us on Comedy Central in Space.
