To be Honest, I am NOT as enthused as many other people are when they hear about this fight. I believe that the fight will turn out to be NOTHING but a big disappointment. What do you expect from Mayweather? He is definitely NOT going to stand and fight Cotto toe to toe. I'm pretty sure that this fight will turn out to be boring. People think that Cotto has the aggressiveness to beat Mayweather, but I think that is NOT enough. People are always asking questions about this fight, but I've never heard why they want to watch this fight. It's just to see who is the P4P boxer of the world, but besides that this fight doesn't attract me much.

  1. I like to see if Mayweather can have his face demolished. Mayweather have ran away too many times with high caliber fighters, Cotto for one. If he can win I can truly say he has cemented his feet on the HOF but for now there are still doubts because of hi reluctance to fight.

    2EZ!!

  2. It because pitting two guys who are in the top 3 or so in the world who are at a comfortable weight is always compelling.

I agree that this won't be some sort of coming out party for either, where Mayweather decides to become a slugger and Cotto suddenly finds this undiscovered quickness he had been saving for the occasion.  This fight won't be some kind of shoot out, it will be the fight people are probably hoping it won't be - Mayweather keeping his distance, trying to use angles to land one or two shots at a time and using that defensive style of his to avoid heavy shots; and Cotto stalking using sublte dips to get past the initial shot by Floyd and getting close enough to start wearing him down.

I can't say that Mayweather will win easy or anything like that, Cotto outboxed Mosely, who may not be what he once was or techinically as skillful as Floyd, but he still has tremendous speed and hits harder that Mayweather.  Picking a winner at the outset would be very difficult, whether or not either guy would dominate in the actual fight would have to be determined in the ring (which is why people want to see it).

  3. I wouldn't mind seeing this fight happen, not only because both are undefeated, but because Cotto has proven to himself that he can fight top notch fighters and he should have that chance to fight Mayweather. You see, unlike the Hatton fight, Cotto will not only be pressuring Mayweather, he will be punching in accuracy and a lot of heart. Plus Cotto's body punches will give Mayweather something to think about. Even though Mayweather's boxing skills are superior, anything can happen in this fight.

  4. besides both being undefeated boxers, i personally like seeing perfect records going down the drain as it happens.

  5. mayweather will beat cotto all day his defense is to pure and his speed is to fast for cotto only thing cotto will have as an advantage will be a little difference in size and power But mayweathers speed will do all the talking with a side of defense.!!

  6. because cotto deserves his chance,i dont think he can beat mayweather(i hope he can) but he has beat as many top fighters as mayweather and should get his shot at mayweather.i think cotto will not be a cake walk for mayweather and might surprise us all. why i want to see the fight is because i hate mayweather and cotto has the best chance of beating him.another thing is that at lightweight jose luis costillo nearly beat mayweather with a style not all too different than that of cottos except cotto is a much bigger stronger man.

  7. For me, the matchup has nothing to do with potential action. I think Mayweather would win the fight easier than what most would think, therefore I want to see the fight just to see if my theory is true. A Mayweather victory would also, so why he is number one pound-for-pound today. A Mayweather defeat would seemingly show or prove what Mayweather dislikers have been saying all along. Either way, talks are going to stir up.

  8. Both guy's are the best in the division. I believe Mayweather will win becuase of his sweat sound boxing skills. Cotto would put up a good fight but lose becuase power doesn't make up for defense. I dont know why people keep comparing Mosley to PBF. Mosley has never been a boxer, no defense, no good leg movement, cant adjust and a good brawler. Thats why they think Cotto can win against PBF. Cotto showed a little boxing skills against Gomez. Gomez was off balance and legs to wide. Cotto was suppose to look good against Gomez, "Please". Lets see how his boxing skills hold up agianst Margartio. Its one thing showing boxing skills against a contender and another against a guy like Margarito. I would love to see Cotto against PBF. Styles make fights. PBF has showed he can adjust against different fighter, Cotto hasent. Mosley had Cotto hurt in the 10 round, and they stopped it for water on the mat. We have to wiat and see. Hope Cotto can stay undefeated. I believe Clottey can beat Cotto. Only top guy's Cotto beat, is Judah and Mosley. The other guy's he beat, no one new them until they got there but kicked by Cotto. I can go undefeated for 25 fights, beating nobody, D class fighter. That's what happen to Cintron.

  9. I would like to see this fight because these are the best fighters at welterweight.   I think Cotto's agressiveness could make for a good fight however he struggles with quick fighters.   He struggled with Zab Judah & really struggled with Shane Mosley.  It could be said that Mosley won that fight.

If undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr fights undefeated Miguel Cotto I think it will be a blockbuster fight.   If they have it in Vegas there will be plenty of Mexican's on hand along with all the other boxing fans.   Mayweather will win the fight because he won't have a problem hitting Cotto to the head or body & he will block most of Cotto's shots & win an easy decision.  Hopefully this will happen in 2009.

  10. I think cotto can actually hurt mayweather. Cotto dont give up and is the most deptermine fighter out their. Cotto will chase floy and u know floy will be running making himself look bad. I think it would be action guaranteed seeing floyd get hurt. But why talk about this fight when it won't happen

  11. this has all the makings of a classic, but it won't happen for another year, if at all.......to answer your question- yes i would love to see it happen

  12. I want SOMEONE to beat Mayweather, and shut that big mouth of his!

  13. Why?  Two unbeaten fighters in the same division.  Two of the most talented fighters in boxing today.  It will answer a lot of questions as to whether or not PBF is the best out there.

No matter who he beats, there will always be those who say, well he didn't fight this person or that person and so on.  But for me these are the two best in the division.

As far as it being boring, I heard this before the Hatton fight.  And prior to the Hatton fight, I thought Hatton had a reasonable chance.  The complaint about that fight was that May would not go toe to toe with hatton, but he did.  Not only did he go toe to toe with Hatton, he dominated the fight.

I don't for one second think the fight will be boring.  PBF knows the best way to silence his critics is to give a spectacular KO.  I think if they fight, May fights Cotto's fight, and I am not sure who wins.

  14. I believe Cotto will have his hands full with Margarito, and in truth, any opponent for Mayweather other than DeLa Hoya again is preferable to another track meet like the first DeLa Hoya/Mayweather fight.  I think any top welterweight would give Floyd loads of trouble, and guys like Clottey, Margarito and Williams are at least as much a threat to Mayweather as Cotto.  It just so happens Cotto owns a win over Mosley, a guy everyone thought would give Floyd trouble, as the match looks like a competitive fight on paper.

Personally I would love to see Cotto/Mayweather, it would prove Floyd's legitimacy at welter weight, and if Mayweather won it, cement Floyd's legacy as the best of his era.  I think Cotto would give Mayweather the fight of Floyds life, and honestly I don't have a favorite in a Cotto/Mayweather match, I think it would be relatively even money going in.

    I hope it happens.

  15. because I wanna see Mayweather prove himself to be a true champion. U cant be the best until u beat the best.
