Why do they think Ataturk banned Islam and he was such an Islam hater and stuff...

We all know that these are not the truths, but i am asking kindly, who are they to judge the other's religious views and religious living styles???

I am definitely refering to the ones who are very keen on coming to our section and saying bad stuff about us and Ataturk.

What do you think?

BTW, I am asking it here coz i know Lebanon is one of the nice Arab countries (ı really wanna go there some day) which is also multireligious as Turkey is...

  1. The reason Muslims hate Ataturk is because he was a secular and modern leader. (Extremist) Muslims don't want that, they want crazy theocratic leaders and the oppressive Sharia law. They don't understand that religion should be a spiritual and personal thing, not an oppressive system of government and law. And the funny thing is that those Muslims who are criticizing the secular system in Turkey probably live in the United States or some other secular country

  2. not all arabs, but many do it... however as you see there are people who are aware

you dont have to have this amount of muslim and that much catholic and this much buddhaists in your country to be multireligious. Turkey is such a nice and democratic country that it gives the independence to live their religion openly, so there are 3 diferent religious temples, every three in the same street its 2 % (BTW Turkey s 2% is about 1.8 million) citizens. Not in every country you have this much democracy...

    best regards

  3. Hey I'm a Turk not an Arab so i know what Ataturk had done

Didn't he change the Arabic alphabet to Latin alphabets in order to disconnect people fom quran and caused the whole nation to become illiterate over the night?

Didn't he force the men to remove their imamas and wear hats how many of those who refused to remove were killed.

Didn't he close all the Islamic schools?

You are right he didn't attempted to remove the hijab that time because it became a culture so removing it would make the Turkish man feel like their wives and daughters were bad women.

Didn't he abolish khilifah and caused the Islamic world separation.

Even Christians today keep their popes not to be divided.

  4. because many turks oppose use of hijab at public places like university and so on..

it's not only we think that many turks aren't good muslims but also it's just too ridiculous, since in europe and america (democratic country and many of their ppl aren't muslim) you can take hijab freely, because in democracy every ppl have their rights

  5. wrong section buddy go to saudi arabia, kuwait, or egypt

  6. First of all Cedar, Turkey is not multireligious as u put it. 99% percent of Turkey's faith is Islam.  The rest is Turkish Greeks, Armenians Jews Aramians and whoever. So no u cannot compare Lebanon with Turkey.

2nd Atatürk did not ban Islam.

3rd as Cicero said Carthago delenda est. I say religiae delendae sunt!

  7. Ä° know why are you asking that as i saw the question about Ataturk, i dont support that question because i am living in Turkey and i know that Ataturk was a very good man and he did alot of good things among them he found Turkey as a Republic and made alot of improvements for turkish people and one of the good things was that he put special in education, young people...He was not against Ä°slam because then why did he stablish Imam Hatip Lisesi? why did he created Edebiat Facultyes in Universities? why did he put Ä°mams under the goverment sistem?...the problem is NOT ATATURK...the problem are his actual followers whose 30 years ago were 100% Comunist and they did not have anithing to do with Ataturk ideology becuase Ataturk was also againts comunism, but now this people took the Ataturk ideology as theirs and create something called Kemalism wich is is not an ideology non a religion but a way to get rid of Ä°slam, so in order to do so, they made Mustafa Kemal Ataturk in a way that it seems ( and i specify IT SEEMS) that this great man is the God of some turkish... i have been living abroad i am not turkish but when i came here i was surprise that every where there is Ataturk Monuments or in every store you enter there is Ataturk Picture in every room of a goverment office there must be Ataturk picture (well i think this is normal) but every where is in a way that you can not think other than that girl who in a disturbing way asked if in Turkey there were a place to worship Ataturk..

Ä° know that this man should be always remembered and considered as the hero of Turkey but in the way it is done is really too much....BTW i saw this question 4 hours ago and i prefered to ignore it because i knew that as a part of the leftist democrats that some turkish consider to have this person would be reported inmediatly... so now i noticed this has happened and someone else is asking the same question...i would ask to those who likes to go and do meetings in the street telling that sharia is coming to Turkey where is their freedom of speach and democracy they are claiming? are you guys not against democracy too?...

  8. Arab people? the word 'Arab' is too general, do you mean Lebanese people? Syrians? Jordanians? Saudis? etc.?

"Which is also multireligious as Turkey is..."

The difference is that Turkey is 99.8% muslim whereas Lebanon is 59.7% muslim.

Anyway, they're probably closed minded/extremists, so just ignore them.

greetings_losers: "First of all Cedar, Turkey is not multireligious as u put it."

-I didn't said that, I was quoting the asker, so read the whole question before you answer.

"99% percent of Turkey's faith is Islam."

    -That's what I said, can't you read?

  9. may be they don't understand this you know a lot of Arab still abu jahl and anti Islam

The Last Sermon of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him)

This sermon was delivered on the Ninth Day of Dhul Hijjah 10 A.H. in the "Uranah Valley of Mount Arafat."

O people, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether, after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying to you carefully and Take These Words To Those Who Could Not Be Present Here Today.

O people, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as sacred, so regard the life and property to every Muslim as sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your LORD and that he will indeed reckon your deeds. ALLAH has forbidden you to take usury (Interest), therefore all interest obligation shall henceforth be waived.

Beware of Satan, for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him, in small things.

O people, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have rights over you. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well as never to commit adultery.

O people, listen to me in earnest, worship ALLAH, say your five daily prayer(Salah) fast during the month of

Ramadhan, and give your wealth in Zakat. Perform Hajj if you can afford to. You know that every Muslim is the

brother of another Muslim. You are all equal. Nobody has superiority over other except by piety and good action.

Remember, one day you will appear before ALLAH and answer for your deeds. So be aware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.

O people, No Prophet Or Apostle Will Come After Me And No New FAITH WILL BE BORN. Reason well, therefore, O people, and understand my words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the QURAN and my example the SUNNAH and if you follow these you will never go astray.

All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last one understand my words better than those who listen to me directly.

Be my witness O ALLAH!, that I have conveyed you message to your people.

  10. It is all Noor and Sanawat el daya3as fault.

    blame them.

    = P

  11. Most of those arabs who think Turks are not good Muslims are simple mind people. It's so easy to develope stereotypes in their mind.

Of course issues like the Hijab in Turkish universities enforces the idea in their minds. In the US & many other European countries Muslim women are free to go the universities with their Hijab, why not Turkey?

But of course there are other Arabs who are more aware of how Turkish people are reverting to their Islamic values without being evil extremists.

  12. well, when u're saying that, u're talking about the old-minded, but i admire that because i believe that the Muslim was updated 2 be more appropriate 4 this time, not still stuck in the old traditions, and i admire Ataturk because he was such a great man, i mean he changed the concept of Turkey, and he removed it from the Ottoman retardant, i mean i wish every country would stop 2 mix religion and politics, i mean guys this is the reason that leaded 2 the french revolution, and now is a different time from the time that Mohamed, God bless him, lived in, as there was no politics, and he had 2 make a base 4 the religion so that the religion can survive, but when a religion is strong enough, u can move on. i mean, the Christians updated the religion, they allow now things that before were forbidden, and it's still strong because of that.

Plz, don't consider everyone hating Turkey, think about different opinions

  13. Accoring to the Eurobarometer in 2005, when asked "Do you believe in God?", Turkey came first as the most religious country, with 95% saying YES.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in...

So as you can see, saying that Turks are not religious is obviously UNTRUE!

Also you should take note: that the Turks living in Asia Minor by the Aegean Coast, the part in which 20 million tourists visit each year, has made many Turks become far more accepting & understanding of other cultures than most of Arabs today. ( in which the confusion between becoming open minded and being religious may lie)

Edit1: So if you say that those statistics are not true, and then why are coming here asking why others might think you are not a good Muslim? lol

Edit2. Many non-European countries in the past, have taken part of the same Euro-polls.
