Why do a lot of americans still don't accept global warming as fact?

Even as it's obvious global temperatures haven risen more strongly in recent years and the polar ice caps are receding faster than expected. Even the mainstream media acknowloges these facts as well.

Global warming is an excuse to create jobs in the "Green"

industry. Look at all the green manufacturers there are. And more pop up every day. And think of all the money being made selling "Carbon Credits" . Where do carbon credits come from? How much money would government loose if it had to stop selling carbon credits. We don't want anybody finding out about The Great Global Warming Hoax!

Nothing is as obvious as we are led to believe. If carbon dioxide levels are indeed rising at such an alarming rate, then the vegetation would be reacting with exponential growth as a result. It really is not a question of whether climate change is occurring as it very possibly is to some small extent. The question is how much impact the human puts into the equation. The same arrogance that suggests that we evolved from primordial ooze suggests that we can actually have a substantial impact on a planet of this size.

Some are honestly mistaken.  Others see conspiracies in everything.  Many are conservatives who let their politics override everything.

Thoughtful conservatives are annoyed at the last, because they believe the "skeptics" give the conservative movement a bad name.

A lot of people accept it, they just don't accept that CO2 and humans are the cause.  Other planets are also experiencing warming--it caused by the sun.

Because middle and upper middle class Americans have built a comfortable world for themselves and they do not want to give anything up.  If they accept global warming the SUV's would have to go, the large homes would be a symbol of waste, the meals in a box would have to give way to raw goods to be cooked, the trendy water would go, and.... well you get the picture.

For either political ,lazy or religious reasons

they say God is in charge and he cannot do wrong

The Earth is warming. That much is true.

There have been many periods of heating and cooling throughout the Earth's history.  Many factors contribute to this.  When the Volcano Krakatoa erupted, the Earth went into a cooling period for a few years because the ash and other dirt from the volcano clogged the atmosphere.  

Some politicians and business owners try to work this end of the story.  Yes, its normal for the Earth to go through periods of heating and cooling, but the current heating rate is totally not normal.  

They want you to not believe in global warming, because they dont want to lose business.  Its really a money game.  Everything is about money anymore in this world.

It's not an established fact. There are reasoned opinions that think it true and reasoned opinions that don't. The ice in Antartica is actually increasing. There are too many agendas that are in the mix and add disinformation to the subject.

Because you have people liek the founder of the weather channel saying that global warming is not a serious issue. There is not a consensus: any scientist who disagrees with AGW is immediately discredited as a hack, while all the "good" ones are on the bandwagon.

Maybe because the unusual temperature rise experienced last century perfectly mirrors unusual solar activity over the same period.  Since Earth's CO2 level has no effect on solar activity, man is hardly to blame for either.

I wonder why other people in the world accept "global warming" as a fact.  After all, no one can tell you if it will be warmer or colder in 5 years.

Is it because that other countries the public is better trained to follow what ever the gvmt tells them?
