... in the EPL ?
people get very excited at teams with lovely starts, im a LFC fan and while its absolutely lovely to see Liverpool sitting at the top of the table after 2 games played, I know it doesn't mean anything at all given that there are 36 games to be played and in and around that time the top 4 clubs will suffer suspensions, injuries and in some cases players going on intl duty.
And every club has a 'blip', some clubs have short blips and quickly turn it around back to winning ways, Just look at Manchester United as your prime educational source of what I am saying - like them or loathe them, being an LFC supporter understanding the language called 'winning, success and dominance' is 2nd nature to all us LFC fans - to undermine or discredit their success would mean our own success in the past meant nothing, nonsense - it didn't.
I can understand other clubs being a little more resentful of Man United and their success in recent history, fine. During the 80s Man United would occasionally challenge the pool for the league title, but the wheels would come off towards the end and cos we were use to winning the title, we'd nick another one at their expense.
Ironic, that this trend was the story of the pool during the late 90s and early 2000s when we'd be oh so close. If they were the 'very nearly boys' of the 80s then we were 'very nearly boys' of the 90s although Arsenal will surely have a thing or two to say about that.
It takes one of a kind to know/understand one of a kind, thats why I feel that only Liverpool in the english game can understand the amazing success they've enjoined for the past 2 decades. We were enjoying that in the 70s and 80s.
Now thats out of the way, I want to know that if a club is sitting at the top of the table after 24 games, do you consider them to be potential champs ? i tend to judge after 26-28 games, if they have a +5 or more point lead over the 2nd place team, they are CERTAINLY gonna win the title. thats just my opinion.
