  1. 1st. i'm tall ( for a dancer) and still on pointe, I'm 5'9 ish.

2nd. We dance on pointe so that we look lighter and more etherial for romantic era ballets.

3rd. There are height limits for most companys, trust me I know.

  2. its called pointe. and it is a form of ballet...i guess, there is demi point and then full point(which is when they are all the way up). it is hard. (i dont do it...cause i do not have the strength in my ankles) its not to be tall. its just the technique. i love it. i personally find it beautiful.

i take it you are not familliar with ballet??

  3. Well they don't dance on tiptoes to look taller.

Ballet has nothing to do with height.

Just tiptoes are used by ballet dancers as tap shoes are used by tap dancers if you get what I'm saying. ;)

  4. It's the dance style, nothing to do with height. It's actually harder for really tall people to do ballet.

  5. it actually has nothing to do with height. pointe shoes were developed to help extend the line of the leg. when i studied ballet, my teachers all emphasized making the movement extend beyond my own physical body, if that makes sense. pointe dancing helps create this effect.

taller dancers tend to be gigantic when on pointe. it makes it much more difficult for partnering.

  6. Being on pointe (otherwise known as tiptoes) is a privelige. It's not about being taller or shorter or anything like that. You have to work to get to it. You start off on flats, then as you get better and bigger then you get pointe shoes. I'm getting mine soon.

  7. It isnt actually about height.

Pointe is supposed to be graceful. because your on the tips of your toes, it kindaa looks like your floating.

  8. A very vey long time ago, the people wanted to make it look like dancers were floating. So they invented pointe, were the dancer is pretty much standing on her toe nails. They wanted to make it seem effortless and believe me it's not!
