Question:

Why do all fast food places stack the pickles directly on top of each other on their hamburgers?

I'll take a few bites, wonder why I don't taste any pickles, open the bun and there are 2-4 pickles on the burger, but inevitably they are all stacked up in the exact same spot. Does anyone who's worked in fast food know why this is? Is everyone lazy, or is it some sort of inside joke?

  1. Laziness...they just grab the pickles and slap them on.  When you are trained at BK or McD, or Wendy's, etc...they instruct you to spread them out when you are trained. They also instruct how much onion, lettuce, tomatoe, etc...However, when the staff gets busy, most of that goes out the door, that is why sometimes your sandwich has more or less condiments.  Many think the patrons dont care or notice.....but they do.  Our local BK has a staff member who cannot remember how to properly make hamburger...you must tell them or that person will always make wrong.    After many complaints, the mgr told me, he is good employee always shows for work, on time, neat, clean, and does job, just has memmory problems.  She said she can live with people getting food replaced during peak times as he otherwise is good employee,  better than most she has.......go figure.

  2. That is a GOOD question! I wonder the same thing! My opinion is that the workers are lazy and they want to get your food out ASAP. So they just throw everything on there and send you on your happy way.

  3. if ur a pickle person i suggest u order extra. i personally dont like them. overall back in my high school days when i worked fast food when making a burger you had to work fast to meet orders. i remember throwing the stuff inside the burger, thats my guess.

  4. probably because the mustard and ketchup is taking away the taste of the pickles.  Happens to me at McDonalds.

I'm thinking the pickle has less acidity compared to the mustard and ketchup.  And since pickles are sweet your taste buds won't pick it up w/ sour =F ketchup + mustard in the way.

  5. Abject laziness.

Burger King teach everyone how to use the tip of the sauce application to hold pickles while rearranging the others with the tongs.

But people are basically lazy.  So that's it.

  6. its because they come out of the pickle pot stuck together so they just chuck em on the burgers, maccas employees (i dont know bout other fast food places) only get 45seconds to make a burger so the faster the better.

  7. It is because they hire unemployed pickle pilers. Pickle pilers pile pickles you know.

I think it's because it's "FAST" food and piling them all in one stack is fast and easy.

You are what you eat: cheap, fast and easy. ;)

  8. I worked at one and it's because they're lazy. LOL

  9. Don't worry there are still a few sponge bob square pants out there. Try a location where you are more likely to find someone like that walking around.

  10. Because the workers are low paid, have low desire, not much room to grow, have to get the food out fast, who cares if the pickles are on top of each other.  Atleast you got them, right?  :o)

  11. my guess is it's faster than spreading it out

  12. its called fast food, they want to make it fast. its jus quicker to do this
