  1. Because they're just that - standard hits. Find a new station if it annoys you.

  2. they are good songs

  3. because there hits for a reason

  4. because all the commercial radio stations are c**p and play the same toss every hour, every day. stay away from radio 1 etc.  if your lucky enough to have a DAB radio theres loads of stations that play real music.

  5. cause radio stations only care about ratings.

and if they were to play something new then they'd be scared that people wont like it therefore no one will listen anymore.

    the radios lame.

  6. HI

I listen to my local radio station TIME 106.6 and enjoy it cos they play new and old hits.

also i find out whats happening in my area.

maybe you should listen to another station.

  7. here is a well-educated answer:

it's mostly because these are the at-the-moment bands and songs that are getting downloaded left and right. I used to work for a mainstream radio in Milwaukee as a promo assistant, and daily I had to hear

    Nickelback

    KT tunstil

    FOB

    gym class heros

    etc....

the Dj's actually hate playing it, believe it or not. an old DJ I worked with couldnt stand playing Rock Star and Cupids Chokehold...but the songs are 'hot' so they get played no matter what.

  8. No Radio 2 is not the worst, we set our watches by Magic on a Saturday as they are always playing "last dance with my father" when we pull on to the motorway to take our dog to her hydro therapy and then they are always playing "Rule the World" when we pull off of it on the way home at the same times every time.

  9. Well all this conversation is terrific, but doesn't answer the question.

Here's the real reason. Most people don't listen for long periods of time. Most people DO want to hear a hit when they tune in. Thus, the stations play the most popular songs in their format (genre). At any one time there are only so many "hits." So, to ensure you hear a hit when tuning in, they play a short list over and again.

    It's that simple.

  10. This is why I don't listen to the radio! :D

  11. Radio 1 and Galaxy do, ........Key 103 and Century 105.4 play lots of different stuff !

  12. Get an XM radio.  I love it and you will be happy.

  13. alantic 252 used to have a 3 hour long cd and just start it again when it finished, i'm sure they did.

is that still even on the go?

radio1 is what u should be listening too

  14. listen to radio 1! they play all new music.

  15. Because mainstream radio is designed for all those idiots who say, when asked what kind of music they like and reply, oh, anything that's in the charts really

  16. Are you joking?

I  listen to Radio 2 most weekday mornings from 6 to midday (Sorry Jeremy, if you're talking about something interesting i listen, otherwise its CD's.)

Saturday mornings you've got Jonathon Ross.

Sunday I like but I can appreciate its not always a younger persons station.

Did you not listen to The Killers live session on Ken Bruce yesterday? (Okay, it was Aled covering for him but you know what I mean.)

Then sometimes I have to work at places where they have Radio Essex on. They have about 20 songs, I'm sure a couple of weeks ago I heard the whole of Mika's album at least once over the course of 6 hours.

I can't remember the last time I 'heard it through the grapevine' on there.

  17. because the new modern stuff is absolute rubbish!!

  18. because the people who tune in want it
