If everybody respected the speed limits all trafic would flow smoothly and so therefore there would be no trafic jams. Every day i drive a short stretch of moterway and have to contend with almost every car driver trying their very best to drive as fast as they can and push past any other driver who tries to follow the speed limit. Do they not relise how dangerous this is?

  1. Speed limits are antiquated, and were brought in when stopping distances were roughly 3 counties wide... When doing 60 miles an hour in an old Ford Anglia was like doing 120 in a modern mondeo.

The roads are still as antiquated and have not moved with the times, we pay a stupid amount of money in car tax and fuel tax, supposedly for the upkeep of the roads, but less than 5% of this money is actually put towards road improvement...

If the Government provided a decent public transport system then maybe less people would use a car to commute....

If bosses allowed staff to work from home there would be a lot less people on the road.....and less pushing in as there would not be so many people in a rush....

If more companies introduced flexi time the volume of traffic would be spread over a greater time span......

  2. they realise it , but they just dont care . they have no thought except for themselves . Arroganc eis the word to describe most of them

  3. Drivers complain about congestion because they always think it's the driver in front that should get the train or the bus, never the guy behind the guy in front! They will always see congestion as being caused by other people even if they're in the same jam. There are so many roads lobbyists encouraging drivers to feel hard done by but how many of them get so sick of the expense and the jams that they give up and get the bus?Exactly!

  4. We gots places to be.

  5. laws are made to be broken

  6. they are just trying to get past the prat in the roman helmet

  7. What evidence do you have that they care? Were it up to me I'd have people done for tailgating rather than speeding, if everyone travels at 100 mile an hour with the correct stopping distance there isn't an issue, unless great grandma is in the middle lane doing 46 mph.

The govint have placed the emphasis on "speed kills" but don't do anything to rigorously enforce that, most drivers believe thay are a lot better than average when in reality they are little better than novices.

  8. Alot of people don't give themselves enough time in the morning to get up, eat and leave early to relax on the drive to work. And then there's just the people who just wanna go fast or just don't like being behind someone. The best is when there's a traffic jam and their switching back and forth in lanes when both lanes are only going 5mph. Like their really getting far and then your lane speeds up and you pass them up and their going nuts in their car.

  9. They do realize it but they just don't care. They think that *they* are the most important person on the road and therefore it is important for *them* to get there as fast as possible- even if that means cutting off other drivers. I get so annoyed at people riding my tail because I'm only going 5 miles over the limit. I know its passive aggressive but usually I slow down to under the speed limit so that the as$hole will pass me.

What I don't understand is why people don't just leave 5 minutes early. How hard would it be to leave your house 5 minutes early so that you can drive the speed limit?

  10. It isn't the drivers that complain about congestion. They accept it as a fact of life.

The hype around congestion is generated by the authorities so they have an excuse to raise more tax from drivers.

  11. Of course there will still be traffic jams! Think of the rush hour, traffic lights, accidents etc. Yes we should all follow the speed limit but there will still be congestion.

  12. I do agree,  but try driving along the A12 Suffolk there are so many!!! - you'll soon realise that some speed limits create problems.  They bunch up all the traffic and you'll always get one stupid driver risking the lives of others to overtake the lot.
