Why do amateur boxers have to have the special white strip gloves?

I think they have the white on their gloves so the judges can see the white portion connecting with the opponent.  Amateur fighters can only score points when they hit their opponent with the white portion of the glove.

its a teaching method for amateur boxers to see how they have to punch. also it does make it easier for the judges. Amateur boxing scores more rigidly than professional boxing does
