Why do american whine during the Olympic when they lose?

When you're number 1 everyone else is aiming for you. Just like you are now.

You're not on here asking about a wrestler from another country that threw a tantrum about getting a bronze medal. You're on here asking about an American gymnast that tied and then was awarded the silver medal. The Americans didn't even protest. But yet your question is why do Americans whine during the Olympics when the lose.

Does anyone know when the Spanish Basketball team is having their next team picture? I'd like to be there for the "honoring of China" and do the eye thing.

i think americans think that the olympics is about them and they should win everything and d**n the world if they dont. they complain about the age of athletes. if 3rd world athletes sweep track and field they must be on steroids. never mind that phelps swept swimming but oh no the swimming god is just talented and brilliant no possibility of a lil "outside" help. i hate the attitude of the american media machine they are so d**n ethnocentric. well this yr america is being shown that they will not dominate everything...let them whine all they want.

Well if you worked so hard for something and in the end you get nothing especial because their score was the same but you got silver when you could of gotten gold i think you would whine 2

Ok I think it has to be clear that not all Americans are sore losers, it's just that they are over-represented on this forum.

And not all Americans think that a bronze is the same as gold and that it's the total # of medals that should determine ranking.
