  1. we don't care what you're paying in europe, we only care about what we pay

  2. Not all Americans complain so much about the price of gas. I don't. I'm an American. I firmly believe it's too cheap and the only way we will ever conserve it is for more people to start driving cars like mine that get 30 or more miles per gallon instead of driving ones that get less than 20. The only way that is going to ever happen is with more expensive fuel.

  3. Imagine how much we'd complain if we were in Europe!

  4. I don't. It doesn't do any good to whine. Gas was only about 27 cents a gal when I started driving my Vespa scooter back in 1958.

  5. Mostly where public transportation is not adequate, plus gas guzzler cars.

  6. it's called free speech...............it's our right

  7. Because they don't realize it's more in Europe.  Nobody bothers to tell them that!

  8. Because oil company executives are receiving 100 million dollar bonuses, and then have the gall to tell us that oil companies have no control over the price of gasoline.

The skyrocketing price of gasoline coincided with the War in Iraq, while Bush officials told us Iraqi oil would pay for the war.

  9. We've just become so accustomed to cheap gas and we still drive big cars with big engines. We don't all have small cars like in the UK.

It's a reality check for me every time I'm there.

  10. It is because we have a 5.85 minimum wage so if you work 20 miles from home and work 5 days a week at 40 hours.

you drive 100 miles to work a week

spend $3 a gallon on gas

    say you get 24 mpg

    have a 12 gallon tank

    thats $36 a fill up

and lets say you only have to fill up one time a week

You make 234 before taxes say you bring home 200

Gas is 18% of your income. That is a huge chunk for people who make very little money to begin with.

  11. Because we are not used to it. If y'alls prices went up in the percentage that our has in the short amount of time that ours has you would be complaining to. Plus Europe made adjustments to compensate a long time ago. Cars are alot smaller over there, diesels are alot more prevelent, mas transport is more widespread and everyone drives less. We haven't made those adjustments yet so it hurts us more. At some point hopefully sooner than later the US is going to have to adjust but it hurts to change behavior like that. We like our big trucks, we like to drive wherever we go and we don't understand diesel yet. I personally traded in my suv last year and now drive a little stick shift car and am waiting for Mazda to come out with their diesel 3 then I will transfer to diesel. The city I live in does not offer mas trans but we are getting one and when we do I will use that when I can. We are changing but its just gona take a while and we are going to gripe and complain the whole time.

  12. because complaining is the second best national pastime after baseball...
