I seem to be the only person in america that writes a 7 the way it appears on my american keyboard, calculator, phone, etc. and dont tell me putting a line through a 7 makes it look different from 1 I have never heard of anyone encountering a problem where they thought a 7 was a 1

  1. Some folks need to think that they are different than others. This explains the use of foreign words and numerals.

If I had a hundred bucks for every time someone called me a masseuse, I would have enough to retire. In America, we are called Massage Therapists, and , besides, Masseuse is gender specific female. Masseur is male.

  2. this is a non-issue

  3. Why is it a problem?! There's a lot of other bigger issues going on in the world, and you're concerned about 7's!

  4. Well you've just encountered one today. I have had problems distinguishing people's 1's and 7's before, and just incase someone thinks my own handwriting is questionable, I do it as a courtesy. Especially since things concerning numbers are more important than letters, such as money, time, dates, shipments and orders, etc.  Also, I work in hospitality and most of my guests are foreigners who learned to write their 7's with a line through it. I do this as a courtesy for them, and it becomes second nature.
