  1. They are very simple organisms. To be a multicellular organism, the cells have to develop ways to communicate with each other. That will require more complexity.


  2. It is not only amoeba which has one cell. It is actually a larger group of unicellular animals called protozoa which possess single cell. Since they are the most primitive & simple types of organisms in the evolutionary tree, they possess single cell.

  6. Amoebas are single cell animals by definition.  If it had more than one cell, it would not be an amoeba.  An amoeba functions very well as a single cell organism.
