Why do angiosperms greatly outnumber gymnosperms?

  1. Basically, they can reproduce much faster than the gymnosperms.  It can take some gymnosperms several years to reproduce, while some angiosperms can reproduce a few times a year.  This allows them to quickly outnumber the gymnosperms in most environments.
