Why do animals sometimes get out of control and cause damage? (in the wild that is)

  1. I suppose in the wilderness animals are competing for s*x, territory, and food.  

    But you're talking about getting out of control, which gives the impression of impact on humans.  In that case, we might say that with the shrinking of the wilderness and the animals' habitat, that they come increasingly in contact with humans, where they may also compete with us for territory and food.  If humans leave food out where wild animals can get it, this can cause the animals to regard humans as a food resource, and they lose their fear of humans.  Most wild animals are best appreciated from a distance and not fed by us.


  2. Wild animals are driven by instinct and lessons they learned from their mother during the first years of life. I would hazzard a guess that humans cause more grief in society than animals do in the wild.
