Question:

Why do any of you women answer questions in the woman's studies category?

After looking around on questions it's pretty obvious that a majority of posts here are misogynistic. It's too bad that there's not a "men's studies" area to use as a dumping ground for every rabid man-hating woman to post in all day long.

My question is, why do you still post here? Is it to answer these never ending challenges to why a woman should be equal to a man? Or is it to answer the question that actually have something to do with women's studies, sifting through the garbage?

  1. When I first came here I thought these misogynistic questions were just because they did not have the facts.   I came to understand that they didn't care about the facts, in fact refuse to acknowledge facts.    They keep repeating the same material day after day.  I did not realize that there were those types in this world.

I get the ones who want to argue with me to prove, even if I have an education,  they are smarter than me.    A woman with an education is their worst fear.  It means that all men aren't smarter than women.

Having a mens' studies section would be good- its just that there aren't man hating women on here.

  2. There are a couple of kinds of misogynist trolls on here, and then there are just the sport trolls, who might not be misogynist, might not even be male, for that matter. Sport trolling occurs on every large forum, especially ones that touch on hot-button social subjects. Sport trolling has been a popular pastime since the advent of the internet. Some of the sport trolls are funny, some are juvenile, the best are funny AND juvenile.

The genuinely misogynist trolls come in two varieties--the young dorks who can't get a girlfriend (and are often too chickensh!t to even try to actually talk to women) and who feel resentful over it. Then there are the older trolls who have had some terrible things happen to them in life, often due to individual woman or women who probably were nasty people, and sometimes in the case of divorces, at the hands of a legal system that is skewed in the favor of women over men (though not to the degree that some here try to claim).

Then there are some on here, and they certainly are not all male, who are legitimately interested in the subject but who recognize the serious intellectual inconsistencies and ideological fervor behind a large percentage of academic feminist "research" and rhetoric. I, for instance, have a hard time listening to an upper-middle class academic whose daddy paid for her to go someplace like Sarah Lawrence or Bryn Mawr explain how much easier it is for me, just because I have a p***s, even though I was raised in poverty by a single mother and paid for my state school education by going to war before I could legally drink.

But anyway, there are a lot of very smart women who post here, despite the mine field of angry trolls, and I am glad that they do.

  3. Anyone who criticizes women is a misogynist, right?

    Woman's equality to man is not a claim . . . rather a concession.

  4. Perhaps it is a perception of misogyny that is purely subjective to your underlying bias against others.  Perhaps it's simply a difference of opinions that's being reflected and nothing beyond that.

    ******

ADDENDUM TO REPORT:  Some of us wish to learn and help other human beings using some measure of rigour in answering questions that are reasonable.  I don't employ ad hominem attacks and I do not provide factual matter without formal citation.  If a question asks for opinion, I feel I'm entitled to offer it, per Y!A Terms of Service.  I don't feel that this would make me a misogynist.  I am only a misogynist if one wishes to label me as such.

If a question or answer is inappropriate or doesn't warrant a reasonable answer, there is no compelling reason why one should be concerned with it.  The ability to express opinions or choose to ignore the opinions of others is a critical part of a democratic society.  In keeping with a democratic society, it's in the interest of others to protect their right to speak their opinion.  Suppression of thought is not a progressive measure.  There is no reason why opinions which are contrary to another's ideology should be necessarily suppressed.  This is a slippery slope into trouble.

  5. I think its because I am still in shock that its 2008 and these "issues" are still hot-button for some people.  I never knew such misogyny existed after tripping over Yahoo G&WS.

    I wondered out loud

    "HOLYMACKARELISTHISFORREAL"???

Its more of a morbid fascination than anything else.

*Blue, he's got me blocked too.  Its classic misogynist behavior.   These losers worship the "balls" - they lack.  Such irony!

"As for why there isn't a men's studies section ~ if there was it would be a barren wasteland. These guys are here because women are here ... they wouldn't inhabit their own space, any more than they'd do their own creating of services for men in need."

SHE'S EXACTLY RIGHT.  Harassing and denigrating women is what they live for.

    EDIT: Publius

I used to think as you do.  Not anymore.  Some of these guys are so mentally ill they aren't capable of thinking clearly.  Yes, many very do believe their own propaganda.  You wouldn't believe the cranky websites where they get their misinformation, they are totally unbelievable, incredible.  You will be dumbstruck!

  6. Why shouldn't women answer questions in this forum? It's not against Y/A policy the last time I checked.

"WHY WOMEN SO CRAZY@!!1" I'm not and I know it; he can think what he wants. "why are women so nosey?" I'm not; again he can think what he wants.*it's pretty obvious that a majority of posts here are misogynistic. That's your opinion.*My question is, why do you still post here? I like the questions; when I have an answer I answer.*Is it to answer these never ending challenges to why a woman should be equal to a man? No, I don't believe we are, my opinion and I am entitled to it without you knocking me down for it; besides, being equal doesn't really interest me to tell you the truth.*Or is it to answer the question that actually have something to do with women's studies, sifting through the garbage?  Sometimes, through the rude words there is a genuine question. So, I'm patient and answer as best I can. I never once think of them as women haters, nor do I judge them as such.

  7. wow.. I care about my civil rights so I must be a misogynist.

Grow up. A good many of the post's are written by trolls.

And it was why are feminist's so nosy?

Anyways this is gender and women's studies.

    -----------------

Nope I mostly come here in the hopes of asking and answering questions about men's right's issue's but feminist trolls and general trolls side track me and yahoo as an entity lean's toward liberal(left) so by it's very nature is unlikely to grant the same access to men's issue's as they do for womens issue's.

  8. It amuses me to see how insecure some men are and their need to feel like 'manly men' (grunt) by trying to insult and wind up women. It's funny and quite sad at the same time. I do often wonder though, if they hate us so much does that mean they are g*y? because how can you be attracted to women but hate them at the same time?

Maybe it's just bored little teenage boys with nothing better to do? ahh well bunch of virgins eh?

  9. "It's too bad that there's not a "men's studies" area to use as a dumping ground for every rabid man-hating woman to post in all day long."

You do realize that this is what that is for women don't you? If there was a mens studies it would be the same with women.... don't kid your self.

  10. Because it's fun to see how stupid some people remain after forty years of enlightenment.

  11. EDIT: As for why there isn't a men's studies section ~ if there was it would be a barren wasteland. These guys are here because women are here ... they wouldn't inhabit their own space, any more than they'd do their own creating of services for men in need.

Instead, GWS would be full of compaints about how feminists have ruined the men's studies section by not spending all their time there waiting to get bashed on by misogynistic gits.

You do know that almost ALL spaces women have created on the net have been infested by these fools, often to the point of extinction or having to go 'private'.

Myself, I don't feel the need to oblige them, here too.

There are sometimes quite good and interesting posts, such as the one I just answered about how women manage financially in adverse circumstances:

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

or this rather interesting 'what if' posed a while ago:

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

Also, some of those troll questions are fun. The trolls are so one dimensional and stupid, it's a bit like shooting ducks at the fairground ~ without the irritating kewpie dolls, lol. I mean, check this out:

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

I mean, c'mon, that stuff is FUNNY!

Still, you're right about the level of superficiality, which is why there are some great Yahoo Groups for those who want to have a more serious discourse :-)

    Cheers :-)

  12. You could have a sword fight with them.  It doesn't faze Catherine Zeta-Jones.

  13. Sifting through the garbage.

You can't try to respond to it. It'll drive you insane. One hopes that the mysogynistic posts are just to bait feminists with a less-than-discerning eye and some free time and that most of these people don't really believe what they're saying. I guess it's entertaining to some people.

    EDIT

Re: California Raisin: Do you really think it is real? I think it's too inflammatory to be genuine. Anybody who really believed that wouldn't seek out a feminist forum in which to get themselves skewered.

  14. I've been blocked by the poster of "why women so crazy".  I would have loved to laugh my head off at that one.  He must be worried that i'll give him a nasty answer.  Well, if you can't handle the fire then don't light it in the first place.  The idiots on gws are total losers with no education or life experience.  This section should be women only.  Equality should be discussed by intelligent posters only.

  15. In the case of normal Q&A, for entertainment purposes, to provoke thought, to dabble in philisophical debate...

Re: misogynists... Sheerly to irritate men who want me (and all women) to submit to them.

  16. I enjoy making misogynists have temper tantrums. It's so easy, though, it's almost not fun anymore.
