Why does Kirsty Coventry who swim for Zimbabwe train in Stanford University in the USA? Why do the synchronized swimmers from Russia train in the USA? Why are athletes from other countries allowed to train in the USA when it's not allowed vice versa?

  1. because the U.S will have some of the best sporting facilities about for the Athletes to train in.

For exampe, in the UK we have some of the best cycling facilities with the Manchester Velodrome and their are plenty of Athletes from different nationalities training there

  2. Hi strange question but American Athletes train in other countries. I saw some American Cyclists at the manchester velodrome traing with the British Team.  Most individuals usually go to colleges in the states and carry on practicing. their sport as part of the US collegic system. If the Best in the world live and train with your up coming young team does it not make those individuals better.

  3. that is not true. y is it that u ppl continue to say stuff ur nt sure about. the jamaica MVP club has a total of 9 US athletes registered that actually trains wit us.

    please get ur facts straight

  4. Because America is money thirsty and they pay them to come here so the Americans can steal their skills.

  5. Typically it is because America has the facilities and the resources that other countries do not.

  6. The answer to your question is that the USA has some of the best training complexes in the world

and to you other question even if it was allowed why would you want to train in another country if your competing for the USA

  7. Because USA has resources and they bet on sports

  8. Of course it's allowed vice-versa!

The simple reason this is not common-practice is that the US has the best training facilities and resources available and they have sports colleges devoted to developing athletes'.

Besides, many of the team coaches training athletes represent different countries in the Olympics to the one that they actually originate from. For example, a Chinese coach trained Nastia Liukin amongst other American gymnasts.

Also, over 30 foreign-born athletes competed for team US in these Beijing Olympics, for example:

Lopez Lomong (1,500-meters track and field runner), formerly from Sudan, carried the U.S. flag at the Opening Ceremony. Lopez was given the honor by a vote of the team captains of the entire U.S. Olympic Team.

Russia - Nastia Liukin - One of the world’s top gymnasts.

Kenya - Bernard Lagat - 1,500 meters in men’s track.

Mexico - Leo Manzano - 1,5000 meters in men’s track.

    Soviet Union (1992) & Georgia (1996, 2000) - Khatuna Lorig - Archery.

Peru - Giuseppe Lanzone - Men’s rowing team.

United Kingdom - Heather Corrie - Women’s kayaking.

    India - Raj Bhavsar - Men’s gymnastics.

China - Gao Jun, Chen Wang, Crystal Huang, David Zhuang - Table tennis.

Australia - Phillip Dutton - Equestrian team.

Laos - Bob Malaythong - Badminton.

This is also why i say no country can 'win' the Olympics, only individual athletes can win medals in their events.
