Why would they not?   As technology improves and we learn more about aerodynamics, the design of the cars will change.. Also, as we progress through different trends and styles, car companies are going to try to entice people's tastes.  People are not going to buy new cars if they're the exact same ones they already have.

assuming everyone bought their 07 range of cars. That's market saturation, no more sales, no more profits. Hence the new stylised 08 range to get more sales. that's usually how capitalism works

Style and speed sells cars and selling cars means money, plain and simple car manufacturers really don't care about people, they only care about the bottom line, (PROFIT).

It is called planned obsolescence. They want people to buy a new car every couple of years.

Now they have even gone "retro"; re-introducing the body styles of the 1930s.
