  1. I'm not sure there is any reason for it, it just happens.

My Grandfather had it and lived to 65. Bless him.

  2. There are many reasons....not just one...it is very complicated and youd be best asking a doctor.

  3. I am not sure why it happens but my mothers brother was born with a hole in his heart and did not live past 24 hours. It is very sad when that happens.

  4. they don't. that is rare.

  5. They dont! Or, they shouldnt!! My 2 never did and as far as im aware my third im now expecting doesnt either.

  6. It has to do with their development in-utero.  I know twin girls that were each born with a whole in their heart.  The last time I saw them they were about 12 or 13 years old and doing fine.  I'm sure they are married with children of their own now.  If they detect it early enough surgery can be done while they are still in-utero.  Amazing.

  7. Not all babies do.  Sometimes the heart just hasn't formed soon enough.  The hole usually closes and it is watched carefully, if it does not close by the time the child is in school surgery is required, this surgery is relatively simple.  I have a brother who had a hole in his heart at birth and it needed repair.  He is a perfectly normal 6'2 225 pound man built like a cross between a young Arnold Schwarzenegger and a young Sylvester Stallone.  He has been lifting weights since he was in high school.

  8. they shouldn't. Preemies usually have a heart murmur though ( a valve that doesn't close all the way) it's usually not that big of a deal and usually resolves itself but sometimes it requires surgery.
